BTW- So far the average W/U runtime is 3.46 on the only 3 of 15 machines that has run one...

Nice graphics too, btw. ![]() I like them too! I have no idea what I am looking at but they make nice "eye candy" for a screen saver. ![]() ![]() The Research page follow thru link to the HCC FAQ's explains the candy: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/project...Hcc1Faq.do?shortName=hcc1 (but, why are you watching this.... thought you considered it a waste of cycles ![]()

I have three questions that are important to me, and my participation in this project.
2. How large are the average Uploads? 3. What is the average Memory usage per W/U while crunching? Thank you, Nite Owl ![]() The info will be added shortly to the System Requirements Matrix after enough members have reported actual observations. 1. 55kb 2. 63kb 3. Memory use is dependent on RAM availability and Swapfile size but have observed on the half dozen done a ram use range of 40-45mb with peaks of 57mb. Swapfile seems to peak around 94mb but has stages of 40-50mb. The System Requirement minimum though states that 250mb is required (with VM/Swapfile enabled)

Hello choj01,
Initally is this going be a solid run? or will their be phases in this? This is a solid run through 9400+ proteins. The first few proteins are specially chosen to validate the method, etc. Of course, I always expect the mass run to discover a few bugs that require updating the application. Lawrence |

but, why are you watching this.... thought you considered it a waste of cycles ![]() Thanks, Sek. Nope, I don't watch them. I just look once when a new project is released as I had a big "personal problem" with the original DDDT graphics. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Lawrence Mmm 9400 Protiens that will keep us busy along with the other projects currently running.. still waiting for the development of status page for members that would show current graph status of all projects to date. |

Help Conquer Cancer has posted its first project status update in PDF format. To see it, go to http://www.cs.utoronto.ca/~juris/WCG/ then click on 'Progress' in the left column. Then select the January 2008 update.
I am pleased that they start out by saying that they intend to study the information returned to select the types of data that are actually useful in classifying the images for their purposes. This is a time-consuming step that can result in much improved statistical significance for classification (and much reduced computing time). Throwing in everything plus the kitchen sink tends to clutter up the statistical analysis and makes for poorer results. My very first image research project was run under a professor who thought he would lose information if he eliminated irrelevant data - - I could not convince him that the opposite was true.
