Re: My first query about the Help Conquer Cancer Project

The initial flop count in the tasks seems a bit on the high side. As work comes back with actual numbers, the servers will adapt the estimates, thus gradually you'll see the predicted durations shrink.... will take a few days before new HCC work shows that. On a C2D they do about 6 hours. Yesterday 4 quorums were achieved and the average time recorded was 4:03 hours.

Re: My first query about the Help Conquer Cancer Project

Of course, the results returned yesterday represent only the very fastest quorums that got validated before the statistics deadline.

The predicted average is 10 hours. The unit I'm crunching now is estimated at 14 hours.

YMMV. As Sekerob says, wait for more data and WCG's adaptive estimation.

Re: Welcome to the Help Conquer Cancer Project

Wonderful news!! biggrin

Just what everyone (especially we ex-UD'ers) have been waiting on.

I wonder how much this will take away from the other projects.

Bring on the WU's.

That we will know as crunchers work thru pre-existing buffers.... just keep tabs on this at the Start Here forum Custom Graphs post showing Run Time, Work Units and WU-Run Time Averages.

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=15583

If it runs out of control, WCG will though have to use their distribution controls which works on basis of those exclusively running HCC getting first delivery and after the remainder being distributed so that all projects get a fare share of the total capacity.... that could mean that those on a multi-project mix will see more FA@H, HPF2, DDDT and a lower percent of HCC.

Re: My first query about the Help Conquer Cancer Project

I am thrilled a new project towards cancer has been given to the grid to crunch. I just missed the last one when I joined WCG from UD when they shutdown.

Initally is this going be a solid run? or will their be phases in this?

Also I got my first 2 WU queued up for this project both say over 12 hours of time.. think BOINC may adjust when one of them is first run. I run all projects on my lan so the more the better I know a difference is made..

I have completed 24 of these with an average of 5.95 hours. Not too bad!

Re: My first query about the Help Conquer Cancer Project

I have three questions that are important to me, and my participation in this project.

    1. How large in kb/mb are the average Downloads?
    2. How large are the average Uploads?
    3. What is the average Memory usage per W/U while crunching?

Thank you,

Nite Owl
