Yesterday our February 2009 runtime passed the total runtime of February 2008 and I noticed something good!
With just 150 more days runtime, we have 3.2 Million more points! In other words, we're now averaging 76 points/hour of crunching, where last year we were averaging 54 points/hour. If I did my math right, that's a 40% increase in efficiency compared to last year. (Some of you must have upgraded! ) And not only has our efficiency improved, it's clear that our total number of cores has grown since our total runtime is greater as well. We still have a few more days in the month to pile onto our total runtime figure. And remember, last February included leap year day, and we're still ahead of what we did last year! Crunch on! |

February Wrapup
Great work by everyone this past February! We improved over January, and remember that February gives us 3 less days to work with. Also, check out how vastly improved we are from just a year ago!
Also, we had 78 individual milestones in February and one big team one....250 Million Points! This month, the popular personal milestones were 50,000 and 10,000 points (7 people achieved each of those) followed by 300,000, 100,000, 90,000, and 80,000 with 5 people passing each of those milestones. The biggest milestone was Daron Lees hitting 600,000! And next month, we could have an unprecedented personal milestone. Stay tuned! |

Somewhere in early March we passed 26 Million points for the year 2009. Why is this even remotely interesting? Because for the entire year of 2006, we did 26.1 Million points. In other words, we got the same amount of points in 10 fewer months. (And in less than half the CPU time!) So we've probably added a few members since 2006, but we're also crunching on much better hardware!
This has been another, Useless Fact. (With apologies to the Animaniacs.) |

Indeed, quite a few members switched from UD to WCG in April of 2007 when grid.org shut down.
