I hope Diana G. is OK too. It's been a long time since we've heard from her. Her computer(s) are still crunching...I hope that's a good sign...

She recently had a passing in the family. I just hope she is ok, considering.

I hope everyone had a great Easter weekend. I know I did, but now it's back to a chilly and rainy week. But spring should arrive soon!
In team news, we managed to have back to back days above 500,000 points! We've only done that one other time - near the end of March. Can we get three days in a row? That would be a team first! |

She recently had a passing in the family. I just hope she is ok, considering. ![]() Sry! Yes, been going to my Mom's alot and she has dial up. And I started doing water aerobics 3X a week. Been trying to keep up with writing the Bible studies for my game alliance-and I hand write them-but don't have the time to type them for posting O.o So on Monday nights on Teamspeak I can do them with the group, but not share beyond that! And I just seem to not manage time for everything lately ARG Thanks James for sending me an email, and maybe it is time to step-down from the Capt'n position if I cannot keep up here. I mean a whole month not signing in is really slacking! What you guys think? ![]() |

I mean a whole month not signing in is really slacking! What you guys think? Oh please don’t. The best would be to appoint a second in command that is your most forum active. When you have more time as your life settles, you can return or use it to train your successor. Also, as you are the captain of a sizeable team, there is no reason to bare the load alone. Appoint a Commander and Lieutenants. This can help unload burden so you can stay. In either case, it will provide you the options you need as a captain. All things being even, it is rare that a large change so quickly is of benefit to the whole. For even though on diff teams, we are all of the same family and its good to see your home. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [Edit 3 times, last edit by courine at Apr 21, 2009 2:54:16 AM] |

I see no need for you to step down. Life gets busy for us all and I think everyone here understands that a person needs to be able to handle their personal business without feeling as if they are abandoning the group. (Which, you totally are not, by the way.) It is better to be able to take personal breaks as needed, than to try and do it all and burn yourself out on many fronts. If there are specific things you would like to delegate, perhaps you could post those and someone will volunteer. And if you really feel you've lost interest in the whole crunching thing, I'd say leave your computer(s) crunching and pop back in a month or three down the road. If you feel rejuvinated, great. If you feel this season has passed, then, I suppose we could address it. But these are just my thoughts, and I've only been on the team for a few months.
One thing is for sure, nobody can accuse you of running the team into the ground! Yesterday we scored 534,597 points, which is 2nd best in our entire history! This shatters the previous 2nd best of 521,543 we notched back in March. |

I agree with Col and Courine... no need for you to step down. Take some of courine's ideas into consideration. I'm not sure how that would work with signing up for challenges and such, but that can be worked out somehow. Unless you've totally lost the desire to crunch and be our Captain, I think you should remain in the position. I nominate Col323 to be your "right-hand man!"

I like the idea of a first officer position, although I would be surprised if the WCG forum supports this (Sek: future forum functionality request).
----------------------------------------I had actually suggested Col323 to Diana, and was reminding her that we had agreed to take turns so one person would not be overwhelmed, but that the rest of us were to comfortable (lazy) to take our turn. I think Diana is doing a great job, and maybe some of the other teams that have taken this approach can suggest a sane way to implement it. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by jal2 at Apr 21, 2009 4:42:16 PM] |

Well, at this point, it would be good to determine a command body or cabinet. It's job would be to see what is best for the ship. I can see from your thread who should be on it. For their hearts are pure to the goal. But when it comes to command, there should be only one. Because, in the end, the buck must stop. And in situations where this info is public, that sooner is better than later. For gaps in command are hazardous.
----------------------------------------So, If you like, I can offer many options. Why? Because I've been through this before many times, in all capacities. How? Because the games I play have teams that require far more complex interaction than here, with forums that follow suit. This is why I'm here. Just as any good ship's captain would if he or she were to spot no one at the helm. In fact, if this were the sea, I would be required by international law to render all aid. For at sea, death surrounds you. I knew of recent hardship and watched from afar, to see that the regulatory functions of the team were met. I was glad to see that your finest were stepping forward and assuming the needs at hand. What you as a team are going through is actually commonplace. In fact, even though the uncertainty, change is a sign of growth and should be seen as such by all involved. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
