good evening all
i have been recieving angent pause messase for almost 6 hours now m running win XP pro on a p3 1Ghz 256 mb ram machine have had the ud client running for 2 weeks now with no issues what so ever i do NOT use any fire wall n both ports are open.. can any one tell me a way to figure out if maybe my isp is blocking communication to the grid or is the grid is facing difficulties preventing the agent from communicating with the server..i have not made any changes to my machine settings recently everything else is working fine so i am pretty sure my its not my machine |

My first suspicion is that u have only Genome Comparison set as your sole project. It's finished. You need to add the remaining 2 FAAH and or HPF2. After double click in the system tray icon in startbar and the agent is forced to contact the server again. Alternate, exit agent and restart to force comms.

If you use shared video memory, you may actually have less available RAM than the installed 256 MB. If so, then (now Genome Comparison is finished) the minimum requirement is 250 MB. BOINC has a lower minimum than this.

ok i uninstalled and tried reinstalling...now when the ud agent tries to sign in it is getting a cannot connect to server error message so i m guessing my hardware or lack of it cant cause that error ant that there is a probem with my connection to the grid

A possible, though not very likely if you are posting now from that machine.
----------------------------------------BOINC actually tests by checking oogle which is deemed to be always up. If it finds it, your net is usually fine on existing installs. It's reasonably good and superior to UD in giving error messages and indications of where the fault might lie.

Actually my UD agent just tried and showed initially a Connecting to Grid and turned Pause Agent, so think there might be something server side.

I take it will be sometime for a fix.. not sure how long it has been down.. but it has for awhile.. |

Put a note in the back room. Hopefully the duty tech sees it or will get an alert from the system monitor.
