Yes, uplinger posted that the restart was initiated and i did get a new task. The agent normally automatically recovers, but The kicking can done by double mouse clicking on the UD icon in the system tray when the agent is minimised.

UD agent working again ps what wud be the consequences or runnig both the boinc and UD agent simultaniosly btw??I just installed BOINC on a machine this morning that had a UD WU running. They will run simultaniosly. I cannot comment on the overall consequences but it "appears" one is running a WU on one processor and the other a WU on the other. I plan to shut down the UD agent when it completes its WU and let BOINC grab the other processor. I hope this helps ... <dataman> Wait until you get an HPF2 on the UD agent.... suggest you read up a bit as this particular one is really really polite :O

Dataman,
----------------------------------------Since you seem to have a dual core machine there should not be any problem unless there is not enough memory in your machine. But you are right planning to give both cores to Boinc once the current UD WU is finished; it's more efficient. Do not forget to check that Boinc is allowed to use both cores then (see "Preferences" in Boinc, or its active profile on the website side). Cheers. Jean. |

Server load is back to normal so everyone with HPF2 and FightAIDS@Home selected in their profile should get work if their computer qualifies based on minimum requirements. Thank you for your patience and support.

Cheers and thanks Jean ... that was my intent. The UD WU completed sucessfully and reported ... then I killed it and BOINC grabbed the other processor. I was just trying to help out with an inquiry in the forum. Nice when things work out. <G> <dataman> ![]() |

Presume you changed the Device profile to effectuate the change?

Hello,
I have a network of 6 machine that all worked fine until this week. Now only 2 of them are running, the rest are paused. It would be nice if there were better tools or at least descriptions within the UD client to let the user know what is going on. I want to continue to participate, but I don't want to baby-sit the machines or spend time troubleshooting. Is there any techincal support for this stuff? Please let me know, Rod http://www.anywidget.com |

The probable answer is in my first post in this thread... were you only running Genome Comparison? If your other machines have CPU's slower than 550mhz and free RAM below 250mb you are not going to get work from the servers. The requirements for projects are in the Help page linked below:
----------------------------------------System Requirements by Project and Operating System and Agent UD development is dead and WCG is migrating major support to BOINC which provides oodles more progress and messaging information and is continuously developed. You may want to switch as the project initial system requirement for getting work send to BOINC are lower in the RAM department. FA@H you would get with as little as 128mb free RAM (after deduction of RAM used by e.g. the display card). UD demands 250mb free RAM. Technical support is everywhere: Just read the appropriate fora, and help sections and Start Here forum FAQ.... Thing is, there's always those moments where a little trouble shooting is required as the number of variables in a client machine attached to the project can be near infinite. There are many hundreds of thousands of client devices registered to WCG. Only a small portion comes here to ask for support.
