I am seeing messages in my event log that say "access to reference site succeeded, project servers may be down" I don't see anything posted on the website so I am wondering what is might be wrong with my local machine?
----------------------------------------My other BOINC projects are running so i don't think that it is a local network issue. Todd [Edit 1 times, last edit by tssmith2002 at Jun 21, 2007 4:55:10 PM] |

Do not change the channel. There is nothing wrong with your set.
----------------------------------------It may just be a temporary blip due to resource allocations. I see them now and then, but just sent up a file myself: 6/11/2007 9:34:33 AM|World Community Grid|[file_xfer] Started upload of file 15000653-15000979_0_0 and there's a request update for a report of a couple of workunits.6/11/2007 9:36:01 AM|World Community Grid|[file_xfer] Finished upload of file 15000653-15000979_0_0 6/11/2007 9:43:58 AM|World Community Grid|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user 6/11/2007 9:43:58 AM|World Community Grid|Reporting 2 tasks 6/11/2007 9:44:19 AM|World Community Grid|Scheduler RPC succeeded [server version 509] Stay connected for a little while if you can, and report whether anything happens that's out of the ordinary. One server may also be busy, but others may be open (and I got in.)

Todd The bolded part is important as it confirms that at least you got a working connection over http/port 80 to the internet and you post here! Should it occur again, can you post 5 lines before and after that message. From my side of the planet to Tx/Co, USA all is fine presently: 11/06/2007 16:51:13|World Community Grid|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user 11/06/2007 16:51:13|World Community Grid|(not requesting new work or reporting completed tasks) 11/06/2007 16:51:18|World Community Grid|Scheduler RPC succeeded [server version 509] 11/06/2007 16:51:18|World Community Grid|Deferring communication for 5 min 3 sec 11/06/2007 16:51:18|World Community Grid|Reason: requested by project

I don't like this:
----------------------------------------Mon 11 Jun 2007 11:55:12 AM EDT|World Community Grid|Scheduler request failed: problem with the SSL CA cert (path? access rights?) The timestamp looks current. Date/time is the same? What's the matter with secure socket 443? Do you have a firewall that's keeping it from starting? I'm not saying to get rid of the firewall. They must be "trained" to allow the transaction.

Date and time are current. I was able to process WU before and this just started so I don't know of any firewall changes that would have blocked it. 443 is open for other types of SSL transactions so I don't know what is happening.

What would happen if I reset the project? Would I lose the 2 pending uploads? Do you think that resetting might be a good next step?

If you need more logs or details, please ask. Todd |

May we please ask you to obtain an official 5.8.16 for linux and re-install (over). http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_5.8.16_i686-pc-linux-gnu.sh
----------------------------------------5.8.17 was never meant for production.... a slip up somewhere. Added: seeing you got x64, an official 64bit version is in prep by Berkeley.... will come when 5.10.x is ready for production.... not that it has any speed impact on WCG work, as that stays AFAIK for now, on 32 bit.
