I will be happy to do that but the version that you have linked is not a 64 bit version. The version that I had was a 64bit version of BOINC for 64bit OS

Don't know of an official 5.8.16 - 64 release. Berkeley never made any public before the 5.9.x alpha's going around.

This is a known problem. Please apply the fix in this FAQ about FreeBSD: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=10976
Different operating system, same problem. Please let us know that this fixes the problem (assuming it does - but I guarantee it will!) |

Thanks for all of your help. I have upgraded to the latest version from berkeley for x86_64 5.9.11. I have copied the ca-bundle.crt into my /var/lib/boinc-client dir. Do I need to copy the cert into the project directory?

Near the beginning of the message log is a line like this:
08/06/2007 13:18:00||Data directory: C:\Program Files\BOINC That is the directory you need to put ca-bundle.crt into. |

I am sorry that I am still causing problems but i am still getting a SSL connect error even after the SSL cert has been installed in my data directory. I double-checked my install and my message log to determine my data directory and I also installed the cert in the working directory with the boinc executables.
What should I look for next? |

Did you restart BOINC? The core client, not the manager.

----------------------------------------That 'Data Directory' is a name that should get fixed to be renamed to 'Program Directory' or something the like. Hope the log in future version when the actual data is placed elsewhere, will also log that entry, e.g. Project Data C:\Documents & Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC\Projects\...... (do nt ask if I dislike that data structure thing of MS.... typing/mousing cramp to get there) Added: The address is only for the CA!

Sekerob, don't confuse the poor guy. The data directory is where ever BOINC keeps its data. The Windows issues aren't really relevant here.
