Twilyth, here's two particularly historic fan-created animated music videos (now known as an AMV). What's notable about it is that the people who created it were those who went on to found Gainax, the makers of Neon Genesis Evangelion. The director of that series, Hideaki Anno (sp?) also directed these, I think.
The first was shown at the opening of a large Anime convention in Japan in 1981, called Daicon 3. The name "Daicon" means big convention, but is also a pun on "daikon", which is a type of long radish. Lots of visual jokes in this one. Daicon 3 AMV Two years later, the team returned with this follow-up AMV. The music is "Twilight" by Electric Light Orchestra. I think you'll agree that the animators improved their skill greatly in those two years. The integration of action and sound is excellent. Daicon 4 AMV Here's a combination of the two, just recapping Daicon 3 briefly: Daicon 3 AMV recap, then Daicon 4 AMV Lots more detail can be found at the Wikipedia article for Daicon 4. Enjoy! |
