Re: The Formula One Thread

Hi mikey159b

Was Vettel in front of Hamilton when the safety car came out?

No he was not, he was physically behind him on track and was able to duck into the pits as soon as the flag came out and make his pit stop. When Hamilton came around, behind the safety car, Vettel was in front of him so was in 2nd place.

The stepped duck billed platypus noses with their various ducts and aerodynamic wizardry are seriously ugly

I agree but I think there is more to it than just the stepped noses. The RBR car for instance has a slot in the nose where air is obviously going in for some purpose, IMO it is providing under car air flow for a double diffuser type effect. Mercedes is also doing something 'funny' with the slot that gets airflow when the DRS wing system is open.

How true. They remind me of a model kit that kids glue together but, in this case, 25% of the parts were left out of the box. They sure are quick though.

Well, the first race is over and everyone has race data to analyze. There will be a lot of changes made before the next race. Malaysia should offer up a better race surface.

And hopefully ALL drivers are in a better mood for it! In the Australia race Hamilton had some 'problems', rumor is he is blaming the Team again.

Ah

That's OK just wondering. So Vettel got the 2nd place by cheating - that's OK then.

How did he slot into the nose to tail Maclaren's behind the safety car?

Surely he should have rejoined in 2nd place and shuffled backwards to where he was before the safety car - after all he had had a free (no time lost) tyre change.

No wonder Lewis wasn't best pleased at the end.

It would be churlish to point out what would have happened to Hamilton had he done the same wink

Sorry I forgot.....Hamilton went into the pits as the Safety Car came around, therefore Vettel was in front of him.

As I said this is not Nascar you do NOT slot in where you were prior to the Safety Car coming out, you slot in where you can as the cars come around. The lapped cars do get to go around but a car going into the pits in 2nd place could come out in 10th or worse, whether the other cars pit or not.

Yes Hamilton ALWAYS thinks he is getting the short end of the stick! Last year he even blamed it on his being Black!! He DID later apologize for saying that, but he DID say it!!

The Hamilton Gag was just that

It's from the Ali G creation of Sacha Baron Cohen

Delivered in an ironic sense clearly not understood worldwide.

Lewis like President Obama is mixed race.

Re: The Formula One Thread

bono vox is that the design for the planned upgrade to the Ferrari wink

Just pulling your leg Alonso did a great job hustling the Ferrari to a creditable 5th place.

Ferrari won't just roll over in 2012 they'll be back

Re: The Formula One Thread

I think that was the inspiration for the 2012 aerodynamics silly

The Malaysian pole confirmed who are the top 4 teams at the moment, with all 8 pilots within 4.5 tenths. Alonso's Ferrari was a distant 9th. I kind of hope for rain tomorrow, since that makes anyone, even the HRTs, possible winners.

Good on Alonso in the semi-aquatic Platypus applause

How different would that race have been if Hormone Replacement Therapy hadn't qualified?

Massa's days in the prancing horse must be numbered
