Re: Un-official Grid.org Refugee Transition Center.

This former grid.org member is running 24x7 on 7 machines, with 3 more hopefully on soon (one about to get a long network cable or wireless card, one needs a new power supply - what's that smell?, and one needs management approval for the new agent).
I'm very happy to find a site for my Linux boxes to crunch.
Based on the welcome former grid.org members have received, it would have been nice if I had found this site years ago.

Final grid.org stats:
Total CPU Time: 15:140:21:04:51
Points Generated: 2,189,167
Results Returned: 6,880

Looks like you're a power cruncher.
I ended up with 185 years CPU time & 21M points on Grid in personal stats.
Here it's taking a while longer to move up. There seem to be more power crunchers at WCG.
Since the move, I have generated a few points here.
Total Run Time (y:d:h:m:s) (Rank) 0:314:17:34:06 (#21,104)
Points Generated (Rank) 167,633 (#28,567)
Results Returned (Rank) 409 (#42,646)

Re: Un-official Grid.org Refugee Transition Center.

My chances of entering the top 2000 will be small, concidering the low number of crunching devices... ("just" 5)

I wonder how many members are actually crunching on a regular bases... (and what happens with members that called it quits years ago)

I'm sure Sekerob or someone will have a guestimate for you, but as you probably suspect it is going to be much smaller than rankings suggest - you will you move up pretty quickly past those who have joined, crunched a few results for a short while, then stopped - as you approach the 2000 mark competition starts getting fiercer as they tend to be the ones actively crunching.

Everyone remains in the rankings for ever whether active or not.

Re: Un-official Grid.org Refugee Transition Center.

Looks around, checks humidity of grass, wets thumb and sticks it air for wind directions, feels if the big toe is throbbing, attempts to read the shape of the clouds - steel blue sky -, guesses it's 10-20% of registered members. biggrin

Suppose after passing thru the Grorg transition centre, the Un-Official have become Official, registered, got a crash course WCG talk and set up shop with one team or the other. My team is on the rise, so we seem to do a much better job at integration.... we offer wholesome milk for the white engine to drive forward

Any Grorgian exile who wants one of the old games back can eMail me, preferably with some details of the thread, such as rules and any remembered recent replies, if relevant, biggrin idea and I will try to recover it.

Re: Un-official Grid.org Refugee Transition Center.

Those from the land of Frisian Stambook (pedegree) have an expression which goes something like "not knowing evil of the prince". There's some frisian here and every morning and evening I hear them calling the farmer to take care of more for the white engine.... he still does it the classic way. But seriously, the only thing i see in those stables is future Bistecca Fiorentina whistling drooling
