Is there currently any third party software to monitor all the WG agents running on my home network? I like to see my progress, but I hate having to go to all 7 of my home comps.

If you use BOINC, then BOINCView is what you need.

Sorry, I don't use BOINC. If there isn't anything else I might consider using it though. Any other monitors out there???

sorry no, and that page on the grid forum is gone too. from what i understand from the author (Jonathan Murphy i believe), the one made for the grid.org agent is not compatible with the WCG UD agent version.
----------------------------------------Not to deflate JM's monitor, the BOINC+BOINCview combination is absolutely superior in monitoring and managing remotely. Almost all is possible to do with the agent as were it on the local desktop. cheers

Aside free speech, we have that second agent mentioned above:BOINC. Given that the development drive for the cancelled grid.org beta fell thru, it's going to be a long time before the old UD gent will get a revision..... here's a little appetizing screenshot of what BOINC does in 'Simple'(1) and 'Advanced'(2) View and the Graphics(3). The best part is, the Result Status page allows for detailed, by work unit review of outcome (4)!

Man you have to switch to BOINC!
---------------------------------------- Here's a screen shot of BOINCview monitoring my home network:All the vital stats are there and you can do anything via remote control that you could do while sitting infront of the machine with a monitor and keyboard. Most of my machines have no peripherals at all! ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by olympic at Apr 29, 2007 6:44:18 PM] |

BOINC does look cool, but I've also heard that it may slow down the crunching a bit. <---- crocodile tears![]() BOINC does NOT slow down the crunching, and some have found that it assigns more points when converted to WCGese. It does slow down the validation, since 3 workunits must be compared. Just keep pushing them out, and it will average out over time. An advantage over UD.EXE is that a boinc workunit can be EXECUTING while others can be uploaded and/or downloaded in parallel. UD.EXE must always finish, generate the upload file, upload, download, and start a new one and benchmark. There's some wasted time in there while nothing is actually running.

Holy OMG! I downloaded BOINC 5.8.17 for all my comps, and BOINCview 1.4.2 for my main comp. No matter what I did, I couldn't view any other computer using either the Bmonitor or Bview. The only help I've found deals with messing with .cfg files and going thru a bunch of stuff that seems a bit extreme for just viewing multiple comp stats. Am I doing something wrong, or is BOINC just for advanced users? I'd almost rather use VNC software and check one comp at a time.
----------------------------------------Would using my Main comp. as a gateway and using a hub to my crunching comps be the problem? Never mattered with UDmonitor on Grid.org.
