Re: Latest units stuck at 0%?

I had already upgraded to version 5.8.15, and still it wasted nearly 28 hours of computing time.
There's a couple of different versions of things to deal with. That's the current BOINC version for windows. The PROGRAM GC version 5.12 was failing. The new GC version I just saw is 5.14.

Re: Latest units stuck at 0%?

BTW -- how do you edit a post? In the UD client it was a simple matter of clicking on an "edit" button. But there doesn't seem to be such an option with BOINC.

Help, please confused
This forum has a pencil and paper icon in the upper left of your message. The word "edit" is also there, but helpfully is in white to make it easier (?) to read on a white or gray background. sad

Thanks -- now I see it. And, you're correct - the word "edit" is virtually impossible to see unless you know what you're looking for. Obviously, I didn't! biggrin

I got a few today, but also some others. There is a checkbox to set BOINC to accept work from other projects if your primary project runs out. Otherwise, you get nothing if you are set to GC only.

GC was down for a few days, so many crunchers are looking for it again. It probably takes some time to make workunits enough for everyone with the new version of GC.

Re: Latest units stuck at 0%?

It's odd that both the boxes, that have GC in the profile did not get any GC in the last 24 hours. The global project stats though shows healthy WU's with 32k on Saturday

Mar.20-07 30,073
Mar.21-07 11,105
Mar.22-07 17,655
Mar.23-07 19,721
Mar.24-07 31,934

Someone does get them or hogged them :O

Re: Latest units stuck at 0%?

So far I seem to be getting just enough wu's to have one processing and another waiting to process.

I didn't really monitor my system last night or early this morning, but I appear to be gettng work, just not the usual list of 3 to 5 wu's pending.

Also, I notice that the new work appears to be taking longer than the older units. I could crunch through most of those in about an hour or slightly longer; the current group is taking 2 to 5+ hours to complete. Other work on this computer is about the same so it would appear that the new series is going to average a longer processing time.

Re: Latest units stuck at 0%?

Hi, i also noted another strange thing with the new WUs for GC. It seems as if the allowed return time has decreased to 1.5 days only. Seems to have been starting yesterday morning, see examples below.
These are not resends as far as i can see in the workunit list (all send units have the same - shortened - enddate).

Shortened examples

10000846-10001470_ -- xxxxxxxxxxx In Progress 03/27/2007 10:11:01 03/28/2007 22:11:01 0.00 0.0 / 0.0

10000756-10001476_ -- xxxxxxxxxxxx In Progress 03/27/2007 07:48:05 03/28/2007 19:48:05 0.00 0.0 / 0.0

Regular example

10000666-10001473_ -- xxxxxxxxxxxx In Progress 03/27/2007 05:56:05 04/05/2007 05:56:05 0.00 0.0 / 0.0

This machine is running BOINC 5.8.15 on Win XP. Examples are all for the same machine.

Is there something wrong here, or intended behaviour for these WUs ?

Cheers,

Gerard.

This issue was because some rush batch work was put thru..... that went only to the clients with hi rate of return <=18 hours and no/very low fault history. The flag on Sunday was reset to return to normal distribution, which got me to receive new work for the GC project. Sunday was back to almost 36 thousand WU's.

Coingames,

That's the work that is likely related to the below post..... we're transition to the next series, so a clean out needs done of the remaining work. Also because of the trouble last week with a few batches of work, some re-runs are done to catch that up.... that always goes by priority (version 5.12 did not handle certain exceptions correctly, so we upgraded to 5.14 for BOINC and to 1.0.0.11 for UD)

Very possible as we are at a point where the second series of GC work is blending in (see project progress page which is currently not reachable, for the bolt on work described in top paragraphs)

The job durations on my C2D for the rush jobs are about 2.5 hours.
