Re: Latest units stuck at 0%?

Hi Sekerob. My head is spinning reading all these posts. Am I supposed to suspend the 6 GC WU waiting to run, or do I abort them right off the bat. They are not schedualed to run for about 24 hrs.

Thank you in advance for your patience with me. blushing I have never had to abort or suspend anything before now.

Diana G.

Note, it's the >= 1440's (last 4 main digits of the work unit) ... i've got about 7 left with a lower number, 1 with a higher number. Will let the lower run as the 2 just finished got validated / no hang. I'll keep the 1442 in suspended animation until the word comes out.... no point is wasting cycles.

Feel free to abort any you have under suspicion if not yet started and uncomfortable. It will return them to the pool. If something is wrong in the packaging, they'll get a refurbishment before reissue.

ciao

Re: Latest units stuck at 0%?

Yes, I noticed my progress was stuck at 0% after a few hours of runtime. I also noticed that the CPU was running the task at over 90%, which wouldn't stop even if I put it in snooze. I thought maybe maybe something was wrong with the program, so I uninstalled and reinstalled, but I'm having the same problem.

Now I'm getting "agent paused". I checked to see if my firewall settings had changed, but I now I see others have having the same problem.

So I'll wait and see what happens. It's a shame, I was on a roll this week with my single computer, and figured I'd get some extra results in. Oh well.

TOMinAZ,

You can continue 'on a roll' by switching to HCMD (semi short), or FAAH (Long). Go to your device profile and add options. Leave GC as it is not being send out anyway momentarily.

The proper terminating was already explained a few posts up.

cheers

Sekerob thanks for the reply and explaination. All of my GC's are ...1436-1438 so they are going to be fine.

Re: Latest units stuck at 0%?

Hi,

I also seemed to have been running one of these work units : 10001316-10001449_2 using fcg1 version 512, as it has been running for 9 hours 50 minutes with 0 percent progress showing still. If I suspend it I do notice it does stop using any of my cpu resources, And a restart on it does show it starts up again with the cpu usage. I am running with Windows XP - 5.8.15. WIll abort this one now.

Thanks
G^R

Re: Latest units stuck at 0%?

Just aborted two WU's.

One was running on a 3.8GHz P4 570J and had been running 38 minutes. sad That didn't hurt too badly.

The other had been running 7 hours and 29 minutes on a machine with an E6600 Conroe. angry That one hurt! That's a lot of work for that computer. I wish that I'd caught that one sooner but I don't have time to monitor all five computers all day, every day. Could have been worse though......... Luckily only two computers had one faulty WU each.

Thanks to the person(s) that brought it to our attention.

Re: Latest units stuck at 0%?

Hook them up via BOINCview and you can have a single window with all jobs in progress local & remote.... here's an appetizer... green is above minimum efficiency, yellow is below, red is problem.....one can set the levels for the colours to kick in.

Once configured you can control the clients remotely, one by one or in bulk.

AND, it allows the local prefs and behavioral controls for the agents to be programmed locally, rather than on the website or editing the config file!

It will come right as always, but always at the wrong moment (Murphy), since HDC is closing up.

Oi! I only reported the problem! No need to get personal! wink
