Don't want to spoil the fun, but this is still a Development version guys.... they're still tweaking the series for MAC and Linux.

Re: Improvements in Claimed and Granted Credit with Linux BOINC 5.8.x

I remember that thread and that I installed 5.8.8 before it was announced stable - I hope this time will be the same :P And 5.8.17 resists there for quite a long time, and so it seems that no one discovered nasty bugs so far :P

And so I'm waiting for first validation on 5.8.17:

Me:

B26150_ 0081_ PTMANB-5-8-9-c2-- Pending Validation 03/20/2007 02:20:37 03/20/2007 09:49:20 1.87 31.4 / 0.0

Others:

:]

EDIT: and now faah:

Keep in mind D_T_G, if your claimed credit is too high, you will get hit with the "outlier" penalty.

Yes, but it was the same with 5.8.15, e.g. this result:

Me:

No! Special rules were introduced to flag an "Old meets New" in Quorum, but within limits..... filters are in place to separate the chaff from the grain.

There can always be a bug, so if someone sees an unjust case, report it in. Than the technicians can verify the rule and have case evidence to support any needed amendment.

Re: Improvements in Claimed and Granted Credit with Linux BOINC 5.8.x

So is it an unjust case if I claim ~17 credit per hour, and others ~3, therefore decreasing my granted to <10?

Re: Improvements in Claimed and Granted Credit with Linux BOINC 5.8.x

That's not the reference.... remember that irrespective of what machine, the product of the hourly claim multiplied by time crunched is what is being compared and should be within bandwidths, thus

17 x 3 = 51 new
3 x 10 = 30 old
10 x 3 = 30 old

mean 37.

If there is someone claiming 3 per hour and does the job also in 3, than the 9 becomes a 'low lier' claim, excluded from the mean calculation.

17 x 3 = 51 new
3 x 3 = 9 old
10 x 3 = 30 old

credit is 40 FOR ALL 3.

Well no, believe now for at least one more build to come.... in the meantime an upgrade in 30 seconds could have had you have the best available of the stable alpha's since March 7.....your choice.

cool
