I'm from the United States, but currently live in Japan. I have had an interest in charitible giving for some time now. Donating computing cycles to humanitarian causes is a great alternative to just giving your money to an organization (when you don't know exactly what they'll do with it). That's why I joined.

I am from Canada. I joined for the same reasons as the poster above. Too many charities use the bulk of their donations for "administrative costs" and very little money gets to where it is suppose to. With the WCG, 100% of my "donation" is used for the cause and the results will benefit all of humanity, not just a select group.

I'm from Brasil and found out to be HIV+ a few months ago and a friend of mine told me about WCG, so I decided to help donating some computer hours and hopefully get better treatment in exchange.

I'm from the USA. I started with WCG because I have a few friends with HIV. I think all of the WCG projects are worthwhile though.

Hi all,
I live in Belgium, that little country in Europe. Yes, that country with the best beer in the world :). The reason why i donate my processor-power (or the one of my employer...) is that i read an article in EOS (a scientific magazine) about this project. I found it such a great idea that i directly subscribed myself. Many little ones make one big (huge) one, isn't it? Keep up the good work! |

... Yes, that country with the best beer in the world :)... Beer are you sure? Belgium and good beer is like Switzerland and opinions I'm from Germany, a few years ago I spent my cycles for the SETI-Project (before it was available for BOINC), then I forgott about DC. But a few Month ago I joined Rechenkraft.net. I think WCG is a great 'Project' because it's for the good cause. There are many other useful projects but many of them don't have checkpoints, and I think this is a kind of wasting CPU-Power. At the moment I'm concentrating on GC because it could be finished very fast and the resources could be used for other projects. |
