Hi,
----------------------------------------I am from Francfort/Germany and joined WCG last year for the same reason as many others: Since I have always had a strong interest in social and humanitarian issues I was pleased to discover this straight way to act. And like the many of you I prefer grass-roots structures rather than institutionalised settings. Let's hunt the viruses down! P.S. I once made an internship during my university studies at the European Parliament. There I expected to meet with state-of-the-art policy-making. Instead I was stunned to see how much concern there was about implementing backwards policies like agriculture subsidies etc.! Of course Grid computing can't replace government programs but at least give back some power to the citizens. bertrand.eissler@googlemail.com [Edit 1 times, last edit by BertrandRussel at May 23, 2007 1:48:50 PM] |

Hi all,
It's been a while since i've read the posts on this thread. Now i read some reactions from all over the globe! No boundaries whatsoever... A dream within a nightmare... Just a thougt: isn't it ironic that we need a terrible disease so we work together and share the same thoughts, without boundaries, without restrictions, just go for the same goal? With all due respect to all the victims, but i found all these reactions "hearth-warming"... Let's all keep participating and fighting for a cure! The race of men is a strong race, if we fight together... All of you keep up the good work, one day we'll beat this ##@## disease! Evin |

I'm originally from down south (USA) but have lived in New Jersey most of my life. I never got used to the culture in the NY metro area and still feel like I don't belong here. I can blend in when I have to but I usually end up feeling pretty slimey afterwards.
----------------------------------------I joined UD before we taught computers to hibernate and since I left most of my machines on most of the time, I figured I may as well try to do some good. After many years with the Grorg, I see the value of what we do and think its worth running 6 or 7 machines at my own expense to that end. ![]() ![]() |

Hi Everyone, I am from Turkey. Actually I was cruching with some other useless projects years ago. Later I lost interest in distrisbuted computing because there were no interesting projects. Lately I came across WDC via the news that Grid.org was shut down.
I joined in with the same purposes as you do. I 've installed on my destop also to the computers of my friends. At the moment I am trying to convince the IT manager in our company to install the client to all machines ( nearly 10 K worldwide). if I succeed we'll have a small boost :) if I can't, I will do my best to inform people around so that more can participate. Main reason people do not join is " they don't know about it " . Cure to humanity.. |

Safak - thanks for making the effort to talk to your employer - 10k machines would be a real bonus - bigger than you think. Even if you can't convince them, it's the effort that counts. note - i don't think i'm supposed to respond to posts in this tread but you don't have an email address listed and i wanted to recognize your passion.

I don't know how much allowing my computer to be used by the WCG will help to find a cure for AIDS, but, I am here in the belief that something is better than nothing.
