Hi, I'm from Romania,
----------------------------------------I'm doing this knowing that this is what humans must do every where in the word : helping others. But in the same time I know that every little (or big) disease is made by God and given to a men with the special purpose of discovering himself and others and maybe God, in a more profound way than a "healthy" men will be willing to do it. It is the ultimate "tool" in getting someone's attention to himself, others and (for the brave) God. What is a "cure pill" anyway?; An "bombardment" of the diseased cell with the "cure" witch for the diseased cell looks like a "life threatening disease". Sound familiar ? |

My name is Gormzilla and I'm from Roo Island (Neopia).
I crunch because that's what Grarrls do. I really believe that people on earth spend far too much time pursuing money and material things. There really is more important stuff. Maybe some day earthlings will get it together. Beware the ides of December 2012... |

Safak - thanks for making the effort to talk to your employer - 10k machines would be a real bonus - bigger than you think. Even if you can't convince them, it's the effort that counts. note - i don't think i'm supposed to respond to posts in this tread but you don't have an email address listed and i wanted to recognize your passion. @twilyth; Thanks for you warm message, actually I could not manage to convince them thougt I get the support of some high ranking directors :( nevertheless I am spreading the word around, which draws some interest. I think everybody in this forum should have a chat with their companies, schools or universities and see if they can add some new recources. If one out of every ten attemps results in positively, we add up 100 to 10K at a time :) Plus people get to know our work. My e-mail; safak.ozkan@arcelik.com I'll be pleased to meet you or any one here who shares the passion :) Keep on crunching .. |

Hello All. I am front Chicago, Illinois, United States. For the longest time I have been running Seti@home. As long as I can remember, Just after Seti Started. My first computer that I was using was 240mzh Packard Bell.. Now that I have several computers to donate time with I try to help out with as much as possible. I decided to stop doing seti and split my processing power up with Genome and FA. I think those are the two most useful programs for my computers do donate to.
I dont know anyone with HIV, but I know how prevalent it is, and Hopefully one day we will put an end to HIV among others. as of today I have 4 Machines with a total of 19.2 Ghz of processing power running WCG and and working on getting 3 more put back together with my spare parts to run at work which will but me at about 25ghz. My boss has about 26ghz of computing power running various programs, but wont switch to WCG (i dont know why).. We have a nice computer network set up at work.. 6 machines all crunching.. 24/7 |

Hello all!
My name is Björn Johansson, 28 years old and I'm living in Sweden. I have joined this project because I think it's an interesting project and I believe that it is a project with great importance! I myself have always been very interested in science! I'm a member of this project and several others through the Boinc platform! I would, however, know exactly how much impact the fightaids@home project has in "real life". I write real life in quotes because I don't have seen much result on what it is has on big science in general. One of my personal goals with this project is to get up in rank! When I write this my current ranking is: 113 936 points in world rank! I have also worked on informing people a bit through the web about this project so that it might get some attention(not very much, though.. but a little.) It demands a little technical competence to install the software and configure the stuff, so... I guess not everyone has the competence to do it either, I believe. |

Hi,
I'm from France. I heard about "grid-like" projects on the Internet ; I think I discovered them with Decrypthon. I heard about Seti@Home too, but I prefer helping in the fight against diseases than helping seeking life that may not exist. I subscribed to the Decrypthon's newsletter, and that's how I heard about the WCG : one of the projects of the WCG is related to the Decrypthon. I'd like to become researcher, later, but if I can help now too, with my 2 (powerful) computers (1 of them is almost never used), that's better. I'm a active member of a big french site with many forums. I already talked about the WCG on them (2 new members joined the project), and I'll do it again soon before holidays. |
