I see politics is going normally in the Legislature. A few guys defy the Governor, he gets petulant and the party becomes vindictive. I wish they would all grow up and do what is best for the state and quit sniping at each other when they disagree.

So much for spring. It is snowing like mad outside. Supposedly we'll get six inches tonight. Rather get it as rain, but beggars can't be choosers. The moisture is welcome. Snowfall has only been about half of normal.

Last week during the melt I got water into my finished basement. First time this has happened in the 6 or so years I've lived here in this house. I think it melted so fast and the ground was still frozen so the only place to go was down my foundation. So I hope the snow stays over there by you. The inch or snow we got last night has mostly melted during the day today.

Yes, it snowed all night here. Wet sticky snow. I'm roughly guessing about 4 to 5 inches (10 to 12.5 cm). The streets this morning were, in the words of Steve Cannon, completely full of "greasy skid stuff." Top speed of about 25 mph (42kph) at 06:00 AM. Must have gotten to 40F(4.5C) this afternoon as the drive home was normal.
----------------------------------------Sorry to hear about your basement. I don't have a finished basement, but I know water in the basement is the pits. Happened to me once many years ago after a period of extremely wet weather. The water table was about level with my basement floor and did I have seepage. My sump pump ran about 50 seconds out every minute. I was lucky the floor never buckled with the hydraulic pressure. Thankfully that was a one time occurence. Hope you did not have any carpeting down there. Cheers

We had 3 inches but again it all melted today or most of it. Now again we have standing water on the yard so I'm worried about leakage into my basement. The only way I know if it's leaking is to walk all over on the carpet to see where it's wet. Since I have asthma, I'm now worried about any mold forming under the carpet. I did get it pretty dry with fans and a dehumidifier the other day so I'm hopeful.

That possible mold is a very legitimate concern. Try to get it as dry as possible as quickly as possible. Hope you do not have to take up the carpet. If it is glued down that would be big pain. Otherwise you could use a plastic pipe with holes in it to force dry air under the carpet by cutting a small hole or lifting a corner and shoving the pipe underneath and attaching to a blower.
----------------------------------------Good luck.
