Re: Millineum Week

compare this weeks success to this old post

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=1017#4519

Yes it's written by the same insane number crunching stats watching fool wink

I'm still here (sorry blushing )

It's amazing how far we have come

For the last 7 days we have produced a days worth of number crunching every 1.648 seconds the equivalent of 52,423 PC's running the fully 24's of the day

and our grand total for run time now stands at 71,412 more years than it did when I wrote that maybe not so old post

Thanks for keeping crunching

Dave

Re: Millineum Week

Hi Movieman

I must confess the stats mean quite a bit to me but mainly as an opportunity for IBM and the WCG to blow the trumpet in the form of press releases which always garner more support for the project.

Just praying we make the best of this opportunity

In recent weeks we've had 250,000 Members 150 years a day and now the Thousand Year Week and we are now running 5 Projects all of which has to be news worthy

Let's hope

Dave

I look at the stats as a way to judge how the machinery is working and a way to bring people into DC in general. People by nature like to compete, like a feeling of belonging to a group that's making an attempt to do good work, and the added benefit that you meet some very good people from all over the world. The interaction between the cultures is an incredible thing. This "mick" from New Hampshire has recently had the pleasure of getting to know an Egyptian.
We have almost nothing in common when you look at heritage, religeon, vocation, etc but we both share a desire to try and help and that one thing in common was the basis that brought this "Odd Couple" together.
When I talk with this gentleman I hear in his voice the same thoughts I have. We have different ideas but the mix is a good thing.
We both learn from the shared ideas.
Sorry to sidestep your thread but I just wanted to express some feelings.

Re: Millineum Week

No Problem Movieman I'm sure you are aware I'm the first to express my feelings regarding this great venture

As I say friends all over the world and you don't get that with a Supercomputer
