We have done alot of work and I feel proud to have been a part of it.
Wonder how many phases they are planning. 3? 5? 10? 50? 100? I would have been nice to know how much work there are left in the "big" picture, not just for each phase. However I don't see that coming when they can't even update the percentage of the phases on a semiregular basis. But we forgive them for these small sins. ![]() |

fightaidsathome.com just updated to reflect 40% complete! [img] Wow! With the extra power given to FAAH from HPF1 and HPF2 going down, we are only at 40%? There must have been a TON of top hits from phase 1. Well, I guess this is a good thing for HPF2, as this allows plenty of time for them to work out their bugs without endangering WCG from having a WU shortage. The various percentages make head nor tale...Larry Fine gives a few more weeks on Base Phase 2, just after the website shows a graph of 40%...and how did 24600 years crunched on phase 2 turn into net 10,250 years at the labs....puzzled to say the least.

Phase 1a:
"NCI Diversity Set (1,900) vs. Mutant HIV Protease Panel (270)" Phase 1b: "NCI Set (230,000) vs. Wild Type HIV Protease (1)" Phase 2: "ChemBridge (500,000) vs. Wild Type HIV Protease (1) Top Hits from Stage 1 vs. Mutant HIV Protease Panel (270) NCI Diversity Set (1,900) vs. Monomeric HIV Protease (20)" We can't accuratly expect to predict how long its going to take to finish phase 2 based on how long it took to finish phase 1 since phase 2 is a whole new set of tasks. If you notice the 500,000 vs 230,000 you see that this is FAAAR more work. |

You can make a fair guess. Each drug/virus interaction represents one work unit, and takes (on average) the same length of time.
1900x270 is 513000 - plus 230000 from Phase 1b makes Phase 1 consist of 743000 work units. The only way Phase 2 will be larger than Phase 1 is if the top hits include more than 750 compounds. |

The total processing time you see on WCG's web site includes all of Phase 1 (14,400 years) plus the work that has been completed on Phase 2. I do not know why Phase 2 is going much slower because it is doing calculations similar to Phase 1 but just on a larger set of molecules, so the processing times should be somewhat proportional. It has never been revealed in what order each set of molecules are being processed or the number of "top hits" are being processed so it is impossible to estimate what specific sets of molecules have been processed or exactly how long it will take. At the present rate, it might not be until early next year before Phase 2 is completed (about 15,000 more years of processing). |

43% now! Hopefully this means we'll see more frequent percentage updates.
