I believe it was posted a few months ago before the throttle back that we would have nearly finished by now or this month.
I check the fights aids@home website every now and then. It has been stuck at 30% for a fairly long time now. It would be nice if a calcuation would be given on the website to indicate how close we are to completing. Maybe, say we have processed 23 million out of an estimated 26 million work units. Then a calculated guess of how much longer based on the current progress. Will support for this project be extended at this point in time or will the CPU power be distributed or transferred to the new cancer project and HPF2? I am kinda excited to see a closure to this part of the project and maybe shift my support to cancer after fight aids@home is finished. |

Here is the website for the FightAIDS@home:
http://fightaidsathome.scripps.edu/index.html This way you can see how far we have come at any given time. According to the website today we are 30% done with stage 2. |

I cannot judge which of these (AIDS/Cancer) diseases is worse. But I think we have to concentrate on FightAids@Home project, as HIV is the one, which is spreading tremendously and I believe is a major threat to the entire world. And if possible add more resources to the Project.

According to the website today we are 30% done with stage 2. Yes, and it's been like that for a long time. Scripps just isn't interested about updating their DC websites. |

The Project Status thread is at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=7397
The FAAH webpage at http://fightaidsathome.scripps.edu was updated to 15% through Phase 2 on 15 June 2006 and was next updated to 30% through Phase 2 on 11 July 2006. |

Rbolo29 aka Rbolo 28 u disappoint u not using your (self-professed) intuition and come up with an answer......each day the 'by-project' stats are published on this website, thus would we know the dates of 15% and 30% and the number of WU's reported then, one could by approximation, come to a number without scientific assistance.

Thanks but no thanks...I do look at the stats every other day...I just desire to see information that is updated a bit more on the Scripps website in particular. I don't think it would be asking for a miracle to have it updated every 1 to 2 weeks or less depending on how much has changed. Kinda gives the impression the work here is not as important/valued as we might hope. Estimated completion dates would be nice to have also...gives new people here some bearing on which investment they should make or where the most help might be needed.

I myself agree. The fight aids@home started before cancer and therefore we should see it through before redirecting our efforts to hammer the cancer project. Kinda gives ya that vibe tho...less then helpful. |

Rbolo29, lets get to the thread Lawrence guided u to. On May 26, Larry Fine wrote "At this time we should be at almost 25% complete at 17,400 years. At the present rate of processing completion should occur sometime in either late August or September."....25% being the difference of 17400 less 14400 for phase 1a/b. i.e. 3000 years.... 24,284 years divided by a distribution of maybe 3.5 suggests we're on 7000 years which then suggests us to be around 60%.
----------------------------------------Oddly though if on May 26 we're on 25% and on July 10 on 30%, how do we get to 60% on August 11......was there accileration? ....must admit....large corporation PR is way behind to what some other projects are providing...even snippets.....its that close to the chest affliction i suppose.....do though reject 'Kinda gives the impression the work here is not as important/valued as we might hope' observation.'....i'm convinced everyone involved is busting their proverbials.

With the completion of HPF1, the down time of HPF2, and the limited amount of available WU's from HDC, FAAH has had the lion's share of computing power. Where previously, with HPF1 and HPF2 being active, (I'm guessing here, though) FAAH would be around 20k-30k WU's per day. These days, it's averaging 70K+ WU's. Right now we are at about 24,650 years of total processing. Phase 2 started at about 14,400 years so we have processed about 10,250 years of Phase 2 data. In my prior estimates that excluded the processing time for the "top hits from Phase 1" it would take about 11,000 years to complete Phase 2. This estimate was based on how long it took to process similar Phase 1 data. In the next two weeks or so we should be finishing up Phase 2 except for the "top hits from phase 1". At this time it is not possible to estimate how much processing time will be required to complete the "top hits" because it has never been disclosed exactly how many "top hits" there actually are or how they will be processed. This can range from a few hundred years to several thousand. All that has been mentioned is just one molecule but most likely there are several others.
