Anyone has any ideas on how we can get more people to participate (so hopefully we can finish projects quicker)? 1) Send an email to everyone in your address book, explaining what WCG does, and why you joined. Perhaps mention whether you are doing it in memory of someone, or as a tribute for someone who is ill. Ask all your friends to consider joining. Offer to help with setting up the program if they have any problems. 2) Include a link to WCG in your email signature, so the URL gets more exposure. 3) Ask to show your friends the WCG site on their computers when you are at their homes. Tell them you can set up their system for them, and if they have any problems, you can help them uninstall it. 4) Tell everyone in your regular online chat rooms that you will 5) When you are fixing someone's comptuer who doesn't know a lot about computers, tell them (truthfully!) that you need to install the WCG software in order to try and "prevent them from getting a virus one day". Gotta get back to the chatroom now |

Anyone has any ideas on how we can get more people to participate (so hopefully we can finish projects quicker)? Do computer manufacturers still do burn ins? If yes, maybe the techies can figure out a way to use WCG as the burn in. If that does not work, maybe we can get them to include WCG with their product. David McCartney |

You know what, I've been making photoshop stuff for 3 years and have never even tried to make a moving gif. Well I gave it my first shot. This took 4 hours to do but I think it turned out okay. What do you think for the banner? Think it's smooth / nice enough? Frame tweening is soo hard, especially when you're doing a 3D effect like a globe.

Hi Alain,
The graphic is sweet. But I have a quick question. Why did you leave Canada? I've never seen you post until recently. Did you know we are on a role and starting to develop a more active team? That we have a team website? With a Forum? And an active recruitment thread calling on Canadians to join us? Curious, Ripcat |

Oh sorry, I was just starting to get active on the boards recently, and Dave's site really caught my attention, allthough I thought Canada's was really nice too. I wish I could be on both teams, really :P. By The way, one hour later and I finally have the first banner done. Took effort! Enjoy =)

I'm glad you like it.
----------------------------------------If anyone want to put one up on their site (as soon as it's assured that I have permission to promote the World Community Grid name) then use this code: It allows the person to link to this site by clicking on it (as all good banners do.) I posted a sample at the top of my site and talked a bit about the worlk community grid effort on my site, if you wanna take a look. Later I'll work on different variations of the banner. Give me some requests of slogans (like the great ones lawrencehardin posted), as well as different background colours or images (ie: a protein or dna image) and other logo's for the side if you get sick of the globe. hehe, I just noticed my globe is turning the wrong way, all the people will be flying off the earth! I'll fix it. It should be turning towards the right. [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 24, 2005 8:07:04 AM] |

That's too bad Alain. I'm way cooler than those old MOT farts.
You'll have to talk to member hj if you want a slicker website. Keep up the nice work on the banner, Ripcat P.S. BAN ALL SNOW DAYS! GET THE KIDS TO SCHOOL! |

Cool. I'm not sure what "frame Tweening" is - but it looks good. Keep up the good work |

Alain,
That is terrific. And anybody can advertise the World Community Grid. Let's not worry overmuch about all those intellectual property rules. After all, that is just lawyers trying to keep brand names from being attached to competing products. We WANT to see the World Community Grid advertised everywhere. You have created a great banner. Why not start a new Banner thread to grab some attention? Lawrence |
