Bottom line: Should hyperthreading be on or off for maximum performance of the client?

If hyperthreading is on, but the client only recognizes one processing unit, does that mean it is processing at 50% of max, i.e. does a 3 GHz turn into a 1.5 GHz for this task with HT enabled?

I haven't been able to figure this one out.

If you do not have hyperthreading enabled Task Manager reports the 'true' CPU utilization. If it is enabled, Task Manager reports 50% utilization if only 1 thread is running.
