Just wondering if WCG will start broadcasting wapstats since one of my teammates would like to add it to my copy of Boincwapstats

Wireless Application Protocol. Boincwapstats is a php script that generates images from the wap data. Below is one example with a listing of the Seti.USA credit in projects I know to be broadcasting wapstats.

I'm sorry, I was being facetious.
WAP is a terrible way of browsing the web (most mobiles can handle real HTML these days). It was certainly never designed as a data source. There are other protocols for that. And there are other stats image generators that use the raw XML stats. The WAP cruft is part of the standard BOINC PHP stats module, which cannot be used by WCG. Apparently the WAP stats update more frequently than the XML stats, but it's impossible to see why. Anyway, WCG are looking at the statistics again soon, with a view to improving the combined WCG stats export. Hopefully, the BOINC stats can be reexamined too, and a real solution can be fed back to the official BOINC source. Meanwhile, consider not putting a massive signature block in all your posts. Small is better. You can provide a link to your full statistics for anyone who is interested. |

I was introduced to Boincwapstats by it's author, and over the past year or so I have slowly been adding projects to the script.....which basically consists of copying 1 file and altering the variables to match the new project. Well, I certainly can't disagree with this statement. However, the purpose isn't to "browse the web". The purpose is to have access to your stats from anywhere at anytime. There are other protocols for that. And there are other stats image generators that use the raw XML stats. Could you provide some links for me please? There are several other projects that don't utilize wapstats, but maybe I could incorporate something. BTW, please don't refer me to sites like BoincSynergy or Munday. 24-48 hour minimum delay in data is unacceptable as far as I'm concerned. Yes, WAP stats are always current because they come directly from the project database rather than a standard XML feed generated once a day. That's not my signature, it's just a graphic one of my teammates asked me to produce. However, that's is just one example of what boincwapstats is capable of producing. The speed issue isn't the size of the image, but rather the way boincwapstats works. You query my server, my server queries the project server. The project server returns the requested data to my server, my server builds the image and returns it to you......as you can see, it's takes a little bit of time, but the advantage is a signature that always has the most current information (assuming the project server is up and running). We are including the BOINC WAP page when we release some of the AMS support later this month.
And to answer a question - the url in question is (for example at SETI) http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/userw.php?id=500 Kevin PS. This WAP php page will only have your BOINC credit - it will not have your total World Community Grid points on it. |

Ah, memory lane....back in the previous milennium (1999) got a cellphone, that could WAP the internet thru specially crafted pages. Reading this, not only the penny dropped on 'WAP-stats' subject, in fact buckets full were required by the telco....suppositioning, we're talking the same protocol
---------------------------------------- The second part of knreed's 1st sentence is much more interesting as WCG is one of 2 or 3 'holdouts', not yet supporting AMS (BAM). It's impressive how fast the many grid projects, 20+, have adopted and adapted to this feature way to go  (not facetious)
