Hi
I'm running WCG on 2 devices; one laptop Pentium 1,5 Ghz and one desktop Pentium Dual Core 3,0 Ghz. The laptop runs 100 % in CPU Utilizations, which is perfect, because this assures WCG takes all left resources from the CPU, but my desktop with dualcore is only utilized 50 % ![]() This gives me the impression of an agent only capable of using one core! Perhaps this is the same with all AMD dualcore processsors ? How about reprogramming the agent in order to utilize dual- or multiprocessor systems ? ![]() Or should I reconfig something in my PC ? ![]() Regards Santa C |

The UD agent (the standard Windows client) only supports one processor.
The UD agent is proprietary, and WCG can't do anything about its performance. However, WCG also supports BOINC. BOINC supports multiple processors, and dual core systems. If you want to migrate, just go back to the download page and follow the BOINC path. Full instructions are provided. Ask if you need more help. |

In forum (news - read only) a linked URL needs to be changed to make it clear which system (UD or Boinc) does have multiprocessor support and to what extent (4, 6, 8 CPUs) quoted as follows:
"I have a multiprocessor system, but the agent seems to only be using one processor. Currently we don't have software, which takes significant advantage of multiple processors. We are considering this for the future projects." |

Good point, PTabolinsky.
Our website still has some old pre-BOINC information that needs changing. Searching for your find, I found these 2 URLs that need changing: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=overview#2 http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=trouble#42 When you find something that needs changing, please include the URL so we can locate it easily.
