Hi,
Since a few days now I have problems to run the UD client (I want to install it to be able to get work units for a computer which cannot connect directly to the site). I was using this account (TheVegaWarrior) and tested everything (disabled firewall and anti-virus, changed the DEP settings, tried many proxy settings, on LAN, Cable modem and dial-up connection... All my attempts to set up my UD client with this account failed with error: "Unable to connect to the Grid Server. Please try again. If you are using a proxy server, please verify the settings with your network administrator." However, during 1 of the tests, I made a mistake in the password and received another error message: The username or password that you have provided does not match the one in our records. So, this was a big surprise as the client could at least communicate the user and password to the server. I then tried creating a new account from the client and this worked. After that, I even tried to create a new account on the WCG site and for this one, I could connect. I retried a few times and it's always the same: one account can't never connect and the other can always connect... I don't want to switch to another account, as I don't want to loose the few credits I got up to now... So, has anyone an idea of what an account can have that prevents it to be used with the UD client ? (note: both accounts are working well with the BOINC client...) Kind regards, |

My first suggestion would be to try reinstalling UD. I'm afraid there is little else you can do.
Maybe UD is having a problem with one of the characters in your password? Try changing it. |

Hi,
I already tried reinstalling UD. I even tried that on different Windows installations (on different partitions of the asme laptop), with WXP Pro & WXP Home... And the passwords are identical for the 2 users.... But OK. I will switch to the other member... I guess it is not possible to transfer the points ? (but this is not essential) Thanks for your suggestions. |

Hello TheVegaWarrior,
There is still something that you can try. Use 'Contact Us' and send an email with a complete description of your problem, including the device ids. The WCG staff can check the information on the server. This might pinpoint the problem. Lawrence |
