How much memory do you have?
It may have been a temporary problem. Are you a new member? |

Hi SimB,
My first suggestion is the simplest check. Uninstall, reboot, then reinstall and see if that clears it up. Avoid anything peculiar like 'run only as screensaver'. Lawrence |

Hello SimB,
You did not mention Windows XP Pro SP2, so I assume that this is a home computer. What firewall and antivirus program are you running? Do you use a router? Are you on a broadband internet connection? There is a thread called Useful Utilities at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=2490 with some diagnostic programs. Lawrence |

Lawrence Hello Lawrence, I use Windows XP Pro SP2 without firewall. I have a router with NAT and I have Kaspersky as antivirus. I install my device with antivirus deactivate and I have the same problem. My internet provider is Free and I have a 22MBytes connection. |

SimB,
I strongly advise you to use a firewall. The XP built-in firewall will suffice. Are you sure you've disabled DEP? It's in Control Panel->System->Advanced->Performance Settings->Data Execution Prevention. Set it to "Essential Windows programs and services only". Not everybody has problems with DEP, but it has been an issue in the past. The UD client is harder to troubleshoot, since it doesn't log errors, and it's proprietary. If you lose patience with it, I suggest you migrate to BOINC. It's much better. |

Hi,
I don't need a firewall, I use NAT with my router and I don't redirect ports. I install BOINC and now it's work well. I don't know wht it doesn't work with UD.
