If the Windows login ID used to run the grid software is not an Administrator account the grid software doesn't seem to execute the tasks. Is there a work around or fix to this issue so I run the software under a Windows User account?

Hi JeffWeir.
I am uncertain just how to answer you. Is this your personal computer? Are you running into a corporate Group Policies problem? Just which Windows OS are you running? In general, UD does not modify the register, so you do not have to worry about breaking the uninstall routine. You can move the WCG folder wherever you like (such as Shared Documents) as long as you create a new link to UD.exe to replace the old one in Startup (you might want to put it in All Users Startup). Then, when you want to uninstall, just delete the folder, the link (in Startup), and anything in the Control Panel 'Install Software' routine and in the Start - Program Files index. Just what is best depends on your situation. You might want to run UD as a service. (See http://www.unofficialworldcommunitygrid.com/service.shtml ) Lawrence |

This is a known problem. The best solution so far is to use a customized BOINC installation. Full instructions are here.
Remember, only run WCG on computers where you are authorised to do so. |
