Re: Why I posted

OK Community Admins are not Gods, they are not politicians or men of the cloth they are ordinary folk like you and me who have volunteered their time to supporting the world community grid.

They are not employeed by IBM in this capacity and indeed they cannot represent IBM in any way shape or form.

Now I admit while I was a CA I received a World Community Grid purple stress ball and boy on days like this you need one.

Now this has got way out of proportion to the point of it being cruel.

Lets look at the facts Mr Bell is guilty of raising under his own civilian name that Johnny Cool each night in what appeared to be a co-ordinated event was raising about 8 team threads which has the effect of bumping all teams off the front page - not good form.

In return (and here's a job for nelsoc) he has been on this forum (In the interest of keeping this forum a nice place to be I'ved edited the not very pleasant words used - they have served their purpose of drawing the disparity between the "crime" and the retribution dished out here - the people that needed to see it have seen - my apologies to Dave Bell for highlighting what was said hopefully we can move on now) on account of this one action. But the people who have said these things are above reproach

Now I have pointed out where DB said sorry but as I said at the time you will not let it lie.

I asked you to draw a line in the sand and take the advice of the guy in the good book at this point who said "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"

But even the wisdom of the great man himself falls on deaf ears.

Take care

Night
Dave

Ok this has been brought up several times just in the time I've been here. What is the deal with teams having to be at the top of the front page. This isn't a flame I just don't get it. There have been times my team has been at the bottom of the front page or on pg. 2. Really never gave a crap about it. Not something that ever worried me & certainly never flamed other folks/teams about it. Sure apologies were given but I still don't get why anyone cares so much about it. Apparently its still an issue cause it keeps coming up and the same folks keep complaining. confused

Re: Why I posted

You have to laugh Phickus

This all happened pre-christmas but the bad feeling has rumbled on and on

Every time anyone posts in the team forum there's always some little witty remark about whether it's OK by MOT. It this kind of canker that needs rooting out. Just when you think it has petered out there's a nice little stab in the dark and then this whole witch hunt thing re: Dave Bell, people taking their bat home. It's pathetic when you consider the kind of thing people have to put up with everyday, a solution to which is why we are here at the WCG.

It gets on my Man Boob's wink

I mean even yesterday in the mot thread they have to put up with dross like this

----

the best supported team is andrax by far as seen on this forum by the support shown to this great team by other members of this forum when crap was posted about its captain.

you want to take a look at your own team members in future ans there conduct on this forum.

Re: Why I posted

Sorry Dave I have to disagree with you. Admins have to be perfect or at least not mean. As admins the you all fall under color of IBM as such you need to watch your wording if you are going to post.

As for being past the point of cruel I have to disagree there also. Even yourself have belittled people in this thread. As a result it looks as if the admins have not gotten the point. This leads to people beating on this issue well past where admins would like. Personally I don't feel like my points been understood. That's just how it is. If I see an admin call someone a name I'm gonna feel it's starting all over again and post until it stops. The simple way around it is for the admins to be perfect. You may have all the persona's you like. You may not let them flow over into your admining.

Re: Why I posted

Hi pond scum

Does that mean that if a CA posts as him/herself then those words have to be perfect too?

I know of nobody as I go about daily life who is perfect and I include myself well and truely in this vast group.

What hasn't happened here is a little bit of forgiveness

It would go a long way.

Now as that now notorious thread now says

Can we be friends

Dave

Re: Why I posted

Dave,
I beg to differ with your statement "This all happened pre-christmas but the bad feeling has rumbled on and on"

Dave Bell posted this on January 20, 2006 almost a full month after this had been settled.

I hope that I have found the correct team for this posting:

Johnny --

When you post to 7 different team threads in a matter of about 15 to 20 minutes and it is always the same threads, it does rather look like you have an ulterior motive. No, I am not Full Diaper (or whatever he/she is calling him or herself). I thought that this had been ironed out back before Christmas. To those of us outside of your team (I am speaking of the seven or so teams you have chosen to include as your team), the motive of your postings does not appear to be to communicate, but rather to push down other team threads such that only what you deem to be the "right" teams appear first in the list. I (and several of my team mates who have discussed this) do not object to your posting in your own team thread, but when you so obviously are only doing so to bump threads, it appears to us to be unethical. Below is a screen capture from the other night:

What other conclusion I should draw from seeing you post to seven threads in less than 18 minutes, particularly when you and others seem to have planned this type of action in your postings at The DC Zone? This is the exact same thing that I objected to in my open letter to other teams on the Grid. From your postings in that thread, I thought you had chosen a less abbrasive path. It appears now that I was mistaken.

Please understand, I am not trying to initiate a flame war here, I am only asking that you accept and use forum etiquette that has evolved not only here, but in most other forums on the net.

Sincerely hoping that you will understand the intent of this post, I wish you my best,

So... it was the much maligned Dave Bell that brought the issue up again. I have no intention to start another flame war but the posts is what it is. If he has apologized for this post and I've missed it I will be the first to apologize to him.

I dont know how to post the link to the entire thread, but it's in teams Andrax, and bening on page 7 and runs thru page 8.

Thank you for all your hard work, and help.

Re: Flange

Yeah maybe I missed something, but I never saw an apology from Dave Bell. And hate to bring it up, but that character "Full Diaper"... well nevermind. I just suspect it's another alias for a person who is already in question.

Link to an apology by Dave Bell would be great, haven't seen it but wouldn't mind being enlightened by it.

Re: Flange

Morning Folks

I give up. I will not waste my time on ths matter any more. I have tried to bring this matter to a close. I have reasoned with you for a modicum of sanity to prevail

There are far more important things in the world to sort out than what Dave Bell might have said once upon a time about thread bumping

Which is why I crunch here

Please just enjoy the World Community Grid
