Flange,
Thanks for correcting the link. I think you'll agree the original wording and link could be found to be hostile. I have another questions if you dont mind answering it. Why the post in Community Admin, when Photobytony asked about admins and team confilcts, granted his post may have been rough, but your reply was also rough, and thats when the link appeared. Rick |

Flange, The link appeared to the Terrible Team after I was named the worst CA and an Ivan the Terrible avatar was provided. Rick I had about enough of that since it was directed to me personally. I am the worst of all incompetent CAs, you know. His volatility is well known, and his "last post" in the Seychelles team thread claims that he and several others are now leaving WCG. Things may settle down a bit. The link worked for me, so it wasn't obvious. Flange has been openly hostile to at least one member, and his sig now contains in my opinion and openly hostile message, that links anyone of any team to their own team page. It was not supposed to go there.[Edit 3 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 11, 2006 4:37:34 AM] |

Flange,
I can see how you wouldn't notice the link, thats understandable. But the post I questioning wasn;t directed at you. "photobytony Veteran Cruncher United Kingdom Joined: Feb 17, 2005 Posts: 542 Status: Offline Community Admins -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- An open letter to the World Community Grid Administration. For some time now, a fellow team member and I have had concerns about the identity of the Community Admins. Our concern is that they may not be truly independant and impartial and that they may be associated with a particular team. Several others have commented on this in our own team thread. We have known the true identities of four of the community admins for some time but following the disgraceful postings by one of the team members of My Online Team, against the Team Captain of Team Andrax, I feel that the some of the identities of those who "police" us should be made public. At least four of the Community Admins are members of My Online Team. David Bell is also known as Lewis Carroll. David Autumns was/is Samuel Clements, Stares has always revealed his identity, to his credit, and I will leave you to figure out who Graham is. It's not hard to do by looking at the posting patterns. I question the wisdom of having Community Admins that are also members of a team. Considering the outrage that David Bell has caused in this forum duing the past few weeks I now call on him to resign as a Community Admin, as his actions of late in breaking the forum rules have made his position untenable, or that he be removed as an admin. I also request that the identities of the remaining admins be revealed to us and that those who are members of a team, either resign as a Community Admin or as a member of that team. I acknowledge that The Community Admins have a valuable roll in these forums but in doing so their actions must be irreproachable. " I see no reference to you in this post at all... I refering to your reply in this thread..... granted that we all.. Admins and memebers are human, and have our moments. But again no flame intended, your reply IMHO was hostile, and the addition of the link, even in error added to the post seemed to me even more hostile. Locking the thread added to the impression. Agian thank you for the correction in your link, and your help in explaining this matter. Rick |

I locked the first thread after several were insulting to me personally and called me the worst CA. There was a lot more hostility posted before I locked the thing. The thread was not going anywhere. While you did the right thing, it may have been more tactful to ask another admin to lock the thread. That way, you could have avoided the backlash. Hindsight is 20/20, as they say :-) |

Possibly, but several of the other CAs were already beaten up due to the MOT thing. Seeing another lock by a MOT team CA would have just continued the calls against censorship that started the "letter to CA" thread.
----------------------------------------Since the current insults were against me and the thread wasn't going anywere, I did one. The other CAs and overseers were staying quiet anyway. That action started other threads like this one, but 3 of the member nasties have apparently spewed in several threads and left WCG since they didn't get their way. Things may settle down to simple crunching questions one of these days. [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 11, 2006 2:34:32 PM] |

Having the right to make in my opinion hostile post aginst any member and then lock the thread with out allowing other to voice an opinion is an abuse of power. Best regards, Rick I also request that the identities of the remaining admins be revealed to us and that those who are members of a team, either resign as a Community Admin or as a member of that team. Since this account is not a member of a team and not crunching anything, that is meaningless. There was this big flap about real names. The forum rules say not to use real names. I saw this sentence, and wondered who us was. I tried some wordplay. There are also members them, it, she, those, him, new, old, something, nothing, never, name and noname. Nobody liked my response. After some personal attacks, I locked it and dug up an Ivan the Terrible avatar, since I am the worst CA here. |
