Re: Automating the deployment of BOINC Agent.

Hi Lazy, I already install BOINC to all clients, but now I am thinking about use BOINC on more project, not only WCG. For example climateprediction.net seems to me be very important too. But how can I set clients for use two or more projects?

sad Re: Automating the deployment of BOINC Agent.

Hi Lazy, I was thinking, if I copy account_climateprediction.net.xml into \\BOINC\PROGRAM FILES\BOINC\.. (same place as account_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.xml in MSI package location) - is it enough? I guess not (in MST must be some record about this file or NOT?).

Re: Automating the deployment of BOINC Agent.

Morning michalsx,

You're on the right lines. You can pretty much use the info in the very first post in this thread. The only thing that might have varied, is the last file number as it will vary depending on whether you have added the remote access files to the installation. Check the media table, add 1 to the figure shown, then fill in the file table with the info for the climatepredition xml file.

It is something I've been looking at anyway, but I only crunch for WCG, so I was wondering how the other projects fitted in. (obviously I now know they use separate files and the <resource_share> tag).

Regards Slug

P.S. Sorry for being slow getting back - dead server at work. crying

cool Re: Automating the deployment of BOINC Agent.

Hi Lazy, thank you for help. I will save it for later, because I checked stats (http://www.boincsynergy.com/stats/index.php) and I desided stay only here because how you can see ClimatePrediction.Net has much more units than World Community Grid and I think this GRID need us more wink .

I do not want to play than I am clever or something but I think that all project use similar XML file. Here is mine account_climateprediction.net.xml (I changed key and user ID cool ):

Re: Automating the deployment of BOINC Agent.

Here is mine account_climateprediction.net.xml

Thanks michalsx - That has save me some time. I'll probably modify the script so that the World Community Grid XML is automatically created, and then allow additional XML project files to be added if a user wants too. Then adjustments can be made in the resources tag.

Having said that, I did do this for the World Community Grid so I may not bother !!!!! wink

I am creating a litlte website with instructions on using the script to make things a bit easier for anyone to use. Fortunately, I've got a bit of time to finish it now. (Can't wait for my new server to arrive next week - 2 X Dual core Xeon processors, 4GB RAM - Lets see how much that baby can crunch biggrin )

Re: Automating the deployment of BOINC Agent.

Hi Slug,
The Unofficial WCG site at http://www.unofficialworldcommunitygrid.com/index.shtml already hosts several pages of different types of procedures. Why not be lazy and let them host your script?

Re: Automating the deployment of BOINC Agent.

Hi Lazy, about your server. It will be nice peace of power wink

I am waiting for AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 3800, so it is not so much as you but in BoincView I see this:

Pentium M 1.73GHz 3,142 GIOps (total integer speed)
Pentium IV 3.00GHz 3,145 GIOps (total integer speed)
Xeon 2.40 X2 4,702 GIOps (total integer speed)
Xeon 3.00 X2 4,611 GIOps (total integer speed)
Athlon 4400+ X2 7,83 GIOps (total integer speed)

P.S.: I compared my power and yours, we have same, but only because you helped me by this script:
Avg. Results Per Calendar Day 34.01511 wink

That was my initial thought, but the script will probably need some maintainance over time as BOINC developes and therefore the msi package changes.

Although I might be lazy, I don't mind taking my feet off the desk if it is in a good cause. (Plus I need a bit of practice with HTML!)

Re: Automating the deployment of BOINC Agent.

Hi Slug, it is me again wink Just a few questions. Can I use your script for new version of BOINC (5.4.9)? Is your script independent on version of BOINC? Are you planing reinstall all clients by new version? I'am not sure, if it is good idea confused .
