Re: ATTENTION: HomeBrewers team members

I am curious to see if anyone has an opinion on the new banner at www.worldbrewers.info.

Please check it out when you get a chance. I can't decide if it looks good or if still looks goofy and I should just get rid of those people.

Cheers

Fred,

It looks better, but I am still of the opinion that it would be better without the people. Thanks for the work on this.

Re: ATTENTION: HomeBrewers team members

Fred, I think the brewski that you've added makes a big difference. Although the woman and child seem to be gazing above the beer, I don't think anyone would care one way or another. I think it is just fine as it is, and I wouldn't go to a lot of trouble trying to remove the people. But that is your project, and I realize that you take pride in what you're doing ... so I'm sure that whatever you decide will be great.

Fred, please contact me via my email addy -- billvelek at alltel.net -- so that we can coordinate on making you our new team captain. If anyone deserves the title, it is certainly you. Naturally, I will try to remain as involved as ever.

Thanks for all you've done.

Cheers.

Re: ATTENTION: HomeBrewers team members

Congratulations, once again, HomeBrewers. Yesterday we passed 9 million points, and today -- with our second highest daily posting -- we passed another team to move into 123rd place. If we keep this up, we'll make it into the top 100 well before our first anniversary.

Cheers.

Re: ATTENTION: HomeBrewers team members

I have two important announcements:

1. "Fred B" is now our new team captain. Fred has made enormous contributions to our team, for which I am very grateful. I know he will be a great captain.

2. I have created a YahooGroups mailing list for our team; the webpage is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HomeBrewersTeam/ and it has two primary purposes: recruitment by giving our team and the WCG yet another presence on the web, and for announcements/trouble-shooting for our team members.

It is a moderated group, so no one need worry about spam, etc. I prefer that the group not be used for idle chit-chat, and that members continue to use our team thread here on WCG, along with the other forums here. The advantage of the Yahoo Group is that messages posted there can be sent directly to members' email so that they can receive important announcements regarding our team, or can be contacted if they suddenly stop generating points and there appears to be a problem of some sort. In other words. I hope to keep email traffic on that group to an absolute minimum so that folks will be willing to remain a member.

Thanks.

Cheers.

Re: ATTENTION: HomeBrewers team members

Thanks again, Bill! It's my pleasure to help promote healthy brewers.

I would like to start organizing a "real world" awareness campaign that broadens our base of potential members by using channels outside the email groups we're currently subscribing to. I'd want to send out press releases to newspapers and local brewing clubs, letters to breweries and brewpubs targeting the brewers specifically, and ask website owners to include a link, if not a paragraph.

I say "start" because this is a huge task when contemplated as a block, even for a single country - and I'm thinking globally. I'm also thinking "easy" and "quick". We don't have to capture everything, and we don't need to be thorough, complete, or even organized in our searching.

Instead, it's s matter of opportunity: If you are there, grab a business card or a newsletter. Tear out the newspaper's or magazine's mailing address (Heck, take a digital picture of the address with your phone!) - and next time you're online, send it (I'll set up an email to do that).

The information can be kept in Excel spreadsheets or Access databases (I can help with that, too) so we can set up emailing and mailing labels. Then, we'll send out a few at a time, when we get time. No schedule, no deadlines: it'll be slow, but if we get more participants, it'll go a lot faster. Eventually, we'll see awareness and curiosity - and maybe even new members.

Cheers

Thanks V_R, I appreciate the support. Fortunately, I can organize things in my sleep (sometimes I do, at work). The important part is having an email address and a positive disregard for negative feedback.
