Hi Viao. Go to My Grid- Device Manager- Device Profiles- under Boinc Device Profiles click on Profile Name "Default" - and under Network Usage- change "connect to network every XX days, from .01 to whatever you want (up to 10). Be aware that if you go too high, you can be potentialy queue up too many wu's and not be able to finish them before they are due, or may be taking wu's away from other users, and then be viewed at a wu hog. In a regular Boinc page, any person can "see" what wu's and how many are queued up to any particular machine's ID. You won't be able to see this in WCG until they enable the full Boinc webpage options.
I changed mine from .01 to 1 (day), but I wouldn't go over 2. |

Thanks LP - changed to 1 and will see what happens. Does this mean that my machines will upload results only once a day rather than when completed?

Configurable host work caching The BOINC Client Software downloads enough work to keep its Host busy for a Participant-specifiable amount of time. This can be used to decrease the frequency of connections or to allow the Participant's Computer to keep working during Project downtime. If it connected for each result data file created, the frequency of connections would not change, so the quote implies that it will not connect until the time is up and it has something to send. |

Yes, but it also means it queues up enough work to get you through the day. If you are like me and can't wait, just hit "update" and it will manually send the finished wus. |

Hi VAIO,
To set your network cache go to "Your Account" on the projects BOINC webpage then click on "GENERAL PREFERENCES" then scroll down to Network Usage the cache is the first item marked "connect to internet". Just edit this to how many days. A word of warning anything greater than 1 day will give you a huge amount of wu and this could cause problems with the deadlines. Every BOINC project I have been on sets network cache like this. I have never done this on WCG since I just use single processor machines here and ud agent works fine for me. I have a athlon 64 x2 dual core that crunches through the roseta@home wu like packman and I have this cache set at 1.3 days. Hope this helps guess I am assuming wcg boinc is like the rest of the boinc projects,, if not sorry. Cheers........Have a nice day!! |
