confused Only one second of work?

If I have only WCG enabled, Boinc (Debian) keeps requesting only 1 second of new work for WCG.

(If I have my other projects enabled (I have three other projects), then it never actually seems to be making any requests, according to the messages log!)

Any idea why it would do this?

My BOINC device profile for WCG is such:

Default
only work betwnee: 7PM and 8AM
connect to the internet between: 12AM and 12AM
use no more than: 40 GB
project weight: 25
do work while computer is in use: yes
do work while computer is on battery: yes
do work only after idle for: 0 mins
switch between applications ever: 60 mins
multiprocessors: 4
white to disk at most: 60 sec
leave apps in memory: no
leave at most: 0.2 GB free
use no more than: 95% disk
use nor mor than: 75% VM
confirm network connect: no
disconnect: no
connect every: 0 days
max upload rate: 0
max download rate: 0

I currenly have 28 GB free on disk.

Thanks!

Re: Only one second of work?

Ah, to test I (since it's not between 7PM and 8AM right now), I selected "Commands-> Run Always" in Boinc Manager.

Re: Only one second of work?

reedhedges,

I assume you have your projects as equal weight in the eyes of BOINC.

Also, at the moment, i see that you have checked out 5 workunits for your machine.

One thing that you'll want to change is the "connect every" catagory you are talking about to 0.01 or higher this'll allow boinc to download and cache work on the machine for processing. Hope this helps.

Re: Only one second of work?

Thanks uplinger, after changing my "connect every" to 0.5 it just downloaded a whole bunch of stuff. Brought it back down to 0.2 which seems like a good value?

(Yes, each of the four projects has a weight of 25).

Re: Only one second of work?

Well doesn't look like it's started doing work yet, but I'll wait a bit and see what happens :)

Re: Only one second of work?

Your preferences you posted earlier show that BOINC will attempt to switch between applications every 60 minutes. This is the default for most BOINC applications. So you should notice something running within the next hour.
