Re: Error occured: -202

I made a new directory and excluded it from realtime scanning. I then copied the contents of the installation directory to this new directory and did a manual scan of it.
As written earlier the problem is that eTrust genrates a false positive on udtapi.dll
For some reason eTrust thinks it is infected with a trojan called Win32/Anserin!HookDLL.Variant!Tr

I tried the trial version of eTrust 7.1 on a Window 2000 machine and experienced no problems so far regarding the operation of the agent. Perhaps the trial version is different than yours. Please check the md5sum for the udtapi.dll file on your machine to make sure nothing has modified it. If you run md5sum on the udtapi.dll file, it should show the following value:

dd39700773325b2651ed9e878c366a5c

Please let us know what you find.

Re: Error occured: -202

I have just realised that posting in this thread might be more beneficial, so I append posts I have made on this subject here.

BTW, my AV is not eTrust but NAV (fully updated with uptodate definitions) Indeed, at no stage, do I get any AV reports of any suspicious activities. The only time I am aware of any problem is when I see the 'paused' message in the agent itself.

Manual scans of WCG files produce no errors or warnings in the AV program whatsoever.

I encountered this error too on one of my machines tonight, although it wasn't on reinstall. I post my findings in case it is of use...

I watched WCG download what looked like the average amount of data for a WU and then display the 'paused' message. In no time at all (seconds) it would then repeat the process in what looked like an endless loop.

I went to the html page that the error message suggested and followed the instructions (minimise then double click to reopen) but the loop continued.

Interestingly, all the data was from the Proteome project even though that machine usually gets the Aids project.

I managed to fix the problem by-
minimise the project window
right click on the tray icon
select Exit
start the WCG agent again by running from the startup folder

(new data was downloaded and imediately began processing)
(agent has now completed that WU and has successfully started another)
(both successfully loaded WUs are Proteome)

I think it would be safe to assume that it was the agent that had become corrupted for some reason and not the new databecause all appears to be working now that the agent has been restarted.

...Further to my previous post, I have just watched another attempt at processing an HIV WU fail.

The data is downloaded then immediately the agent goes into pause.

I restarted the device by the recommended method (minimise and dbl click), but each time a new HIV WU was downloaded, the pause came back. On the forth try, the agent downloaded a Proteome WU and the agent is now successfully crunching again.

I have checked my AV and it is fully up to date.
Other machines that are running HIV are also running a different AV program. Maybe it is this machine and particular AV program combination that is having the problem (although the other machines that should be affected by this have the same mobo and almost the same CPU and memory configurations).

I could change the AV prog on this machine, but chose to wait until-
others confirm that they are having similar problems
that this problem continues to manifest itself on this particular machine.

My problem continues on this machine in that HIV WUs all seem to cause the agent to pause. Only by continuously restarting the agent (minimise and dbl click) until a Proteome WU is downloaded, do I get any success.

I would like an answer why this is happening, which is why I have let the machine I remain in this diagnostic stage, and will continue to let it remain this way if WCG feel it is appropriate and useful. If not, I could just let this machine work with a Proteome Only profile.

Please advise the best course to take. I am reluctant to reinstall until I know that this is the only available course of action. Besides, I would like to help provide diagnostic info on the problem if it is required.

Re: Error occured: -202

Hi coolstream,
You are quoting your posts on 'Crazy Error ...' at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=5132

Presumably you are well aware of the minimum requirements at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=minimumreq and your computer is suitable to run FAAH. And nobody else has reported your endless loop in HPF.

Sometimes strange things happen during an installation, interactions with nobody knows what. But a reinstallation often settles them. Rather than try to diagnose an idiosyncratic error, I would suggest you uninstall, reboot, then reinstall (being sure to check the 'Previous member' box). Then see what happens.

Re: Error occured: -202

Hi mycrofth,

Sorry about the long quotes, I noticed this thread and it appeared more appropriate. I quoted because I didn't want to be seen as cross-posting, yet wanted to add my findings to the thread.

You are indeed correct in the assumption that I am aware of the minimum requirements for the HIV WUs. This machine is well beyond the minimum requirements! But, even if it weren't, I would not have expected a 'paused' message to have appeared; the WU would have been dropped and a new (Proteome) would have been loaded.

I thank you for your recommendation not to test this situation further and will do a reinstall when the current WU completes. (99% complete now).

I will let you know if the reinstall fixes the problem...

Re: Error occured: -202

UPDATE:
WCG agent now re-installed and running
first WU downloaded was Proteome, so unable to see if the 'paused' problem still exists.

...trouble is, I never had problems with Proteome. This WU is now at 96%, so fingers crossed... nerd

UPDATE

Success! dancing
New HIV WU now downloaded and sucessfully crunching!

It looks like the old WCG installation had somehow corrupted. Strange that it only affected HIV and not Proteome projects.

Thanks for the prompt to reinstall and not to persist in testing the old installation, mycrofth applause
