Hello tholjoh,
Here is what I found searching grid.org at http://forum.grid.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=4789 I have no idea what error 202 is. Can you post the full error report and if it is in a pop-up window. If a pop-up window, what is the window title? My first suggestion is that you try to uninstall and check your system for viruses or file system problems. Then reinstall, checking the previous member box. Maybe that will fix it. In any case, please tell us what is happening. mycrofth |

Speaking of virii, here's one that somebody got and cleaned, causing the error. (also lifted from grid.org) They're running UD instead of WCG, but you get the idea.
----------------------------------------http://forum.grid.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=18319 The Win32/Anserin!HookDLL.Variant!Tr was detected in C:\PROGRAM FILES\UNITED DEVICES\UDTAPI.DLL. When I try to start UD I get the previous message. Anyone else getting this? My antivirus software said it cleaned the file. Now I get the above message followed by "Error occured while initializing the UD Agent Agent = -202 in a message box. What's up and what do I need to do to fix it? Same here. This cannot be a coincidence. SOMETHING IS UP. What anti-virus software do you run???

The following quote is from a response Viktors posted in Suggestions/Feedback to user Didactylos:
Which antivirus program are you using? We have seen at least one less often used virus checker falsely tag some portion of World Community Grid files. If you truly have been infected with the virus you mention, you might want to scan your system with a second antivirus product, just to check if the first virus checker missed something. In particular, there may be another file somewhere on your system which contains the original infection. If you run md5sum on the udtapi.dll file, it should show the following value: dd39700773325b2651ed9e878c366a5c If this file is modified or deleted, the agent software restores it to the correct content the next time the agent runs. |

It dosn't seem to have any thing to do with my antivirus. I'm running eTrust Antivirus from Computer Associates. But the problem occurs even if the program isn't running.
It just happened out of the blue. Not after a reinstall or anything. |

I tried reinstalling the Grid Agent. But to no avail.
As soon as the installation is complete the same message pops up saying: "Error occured while initializing the Grid Agent = -202" The windows title is: "Grid Agent" |

Hello tholjoh,
You seem to be our index case (first case) for Error 202. But here are some other threads: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=5132 http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=5110 Right now my guess is that your antivirus vendor produced an update that is giving a false positive for UDTAPI.dll, causing it to interfere with WCG. This is just an unconfirmed guess on my part, but it seems to fit what has just started happening. It is too late at night for me to give you advice. Sleep on it and then decide how you want to handle this. It is always a good idea to delay rather than leaping into action over a matter of secondary importance. mycrofth |

I can offer further evidence that CA eTrust antivirus is the culprit.
I have had just the same issue, and upon stopping all the antivirus processes and re-installing the agent, the -202 is not reported and the agent loads normally. Ian |

Problem solved
eTrust offers the possibility to exclude certain files and directories from realtime scanning. Start Realtime Monitor Options Click the filters tab Click the Directory button Enter the path for the installation of the Grid Agent and click Add Click Ok and Ok again Did the trick for me, and I'm crunching again! |
