I have around 200 tasks that I crunched during the migration (cached up before the system went down) I returned those on 2025-10-08 02:34:24 UTC, when the system came back. Only one of those tasks has been validated so far though,
----------------------------------------Yesterdays pretty high validation rate, was only validating tasks that I crunched after the system came back. Edit, added: Lots of resends coming in here now. Various reasons for the resends, "No reply" or download errors. Edit, added 2: I'm seeing download errors here too, for some of the resends, and even for one _1. They do not download here either. "couldn't get input files" (permanent HTTP error) Other resends and "new" tasks download OK. I just checked my WU's stuck in PV jail. At over ~1200 WU's stuck in PV jail, my list just keeps on growing. lol

After a couple of days of a good flow of tasks, and pretty good validations, I think we just ran out of work.

"Tasks are committed to other platforms" again as of early morning 2025-11-30.
My last successful request was at 06:42:42 UTC. My first "other platforms" message showed up at 06:45:29 UTC, and all requests since have met with the same response. Given that it never says "no tasks are available" instead and that Grumpy Swede's message suggests this is not just a Linux problem it seems likely that rather than this being something to do with retries it might be a recurrence of the problem they've been trying to diagnose and eliminate. Oh dear... Cheers - Al. P.S. Once again I was "forbidden" for something I put in parentheses -- I couldn't spot an obvious keyword it might dislike... |

I'm out of WUs. Time to switch to the backup project. If I had a better behaved backup project I could use boinc to do this automatically. oh well. I still like my backup project.
----------------------------------------edit to add a question: Some of the recently sent WUs will validate if the second one arrives within a certain window. Does anyone have any guesses on the window? is it hours or days. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Unixchick at Nov 30, 2025 4:28:51 PM] |

Since I only run WCG, and for now at least, not interested in any other projects, I have my cache set to 2 1/2 days. So I usually have enough work to last through these "Sahara" issues.
----------------------------------------Edit, added: I just notified Igor, through an E-mail, about the "Sahara" issue. Let's see if they can do something about it, even though it is Sunday. @Unixchick: As for the "window" in question, I do not have a clue. I have also noticed though, that some tasks are being validated almost immediately, while other seems to hang around for days and days, even if they were also crunched by the second wingman. "Given that it never says "no tasks are available" instead and that Grumpy Swede's message suggests this is not just a Linux problem I'm a Windows user, and at 15:29 UCT I also received the "Tasks are committed to other platforms" message. Cheers, Karen |

"Tasks are committed to other platforms" are with this particular issue also sent to Windows computers, unless they have set <no_alt_platform> to 1.
----------------------------------------If <no_alt_platform> is set to 1, (as I have done), I do not get the "Tasks are committed to other platforms", but I do get "no tasks are available" Edit, added: The reason why I have set <no_alt_platform> to 1, is to avoid getting the occasional tasks set to crunch on the x86 app. They take much longer to crunch than tasks set to crunch on the X64 app. [Edit 4 times, last edit by Grumpy Swede at Nov 30, 2025 6:31:29 PM] |

Happy Monday Everyone!
----------------------------------------I'm hoping for a good week for the techs. I hope for some inspired programming and righteous bug squashing (butt kicking for goodness) It looks like the validation window is 24 hours (or so). That is if both results come back within 24 hours the WU will be validated right away if it takes longer than that, then it sits in PV jail edit to add: I'm wondering if the 24 hour validation window is a feature so the techs can go back later and make sure old WUs validated get put on the correct day instead of all of it being credited today. I personally don't care what day it is credited on. This is just a wild guess as I have NO official info. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Unixchick at Dec 1, 2025 4:46:27 PM] |
