GPU selection is done in the chosen profile setups under the "Graphics Card Usage" heading - I set all options there for YES and let the system determine what is appropriate for my computer:
Graphics Card Usage Do work on my graphics card while computer is in use? Yes Use my AMD/ATI graphics card if possible: Yes Use my Intel graphics card if possible: Yes Use my NVIDIA graphics card if possible: Yes Although I may be wrong, but I didn't think ARP used the GPU for calculations. I thought the only one that did use the GPU was was the one for COVID. |

I was looking at the BOINC application and noticed Event Log so I opened it up and low and behold it says that both my AMD and my Intel GPU's are not set up to accept them. Does anyone know what I have to do to allow the GPU's to accept these Tasks???? PappaSmurf, bfmorse is correct that the only WCG project that has GPU tasks is OpenPandemics and that is paused at the moment. As to why you are not currently receiving ARP1 tasks for your CPU, there are two possibilities. One is that there are not many tasks being released at the moment and you are just being unlucky. The other is that one or more of your 5 pcs may not be regarded as "reliable". As far as I can tell, WCG are only (or perhaps mainly) releasing "extreme" ARP1 tasks - Mike.Gibson's post here explains what "extreme" tasks are. I believe that extreme ARP1 tasks are only issued to "reliable" machines - in other words, machines that have returned valid ARP1 tasks in the past and have not subsequently returned an invalid ARP1 task. Hence Unixchick's worry a few posts earlier in this thread about reliability. Cheers, Mark [Edit 1 times, last edit by MJH333 at Jan 21, 2025 10:22:37 PM] |

Regarding the reliability requirement...
Unixchick was right to show a little concern regarding Extreme tasks -- the default for a reliable machine is usually 10 successive validated results and one error is enough to reset the counter to zero. (I don't know whether WCG have tweaked that in general or for ARP1 in particular.) Some errors may not reset the counter; I'm not sure where things like download errors and missed deadlines fit in, the former [probably] isn't the machine's fault so shouldn't really affect status, but I hope that "Not started by deadline" does count as it might stop systems that don't return work in time from getting urgent tasks that they probably won't return in time, if at all (as was seen during the pre-migration attempts to clear out ARP1 work!). Cheers - Al. |

Unixchick scribed
----------------------------------------as it has to finish in 1.5 days that will mean very busy machines won't. get any The machine here that is receiving ARP (only one ARP enabled) runs 24/7 with all 8 cores running 100%. Cannot get busier than that Doesn't matter how busy, just as long as the machine is fast enough to return valid WUs on time.

The four i got all were valid results and took around 10 hrs on a 5800x @ 4.4 Ghz.

Looks like more MCM are going out, usually this number (which is just a measurable fraction of the true number) in the first post is 60-63k, but right at this moment it is 71k. So is a second project running good for MCM? does more MCM get done, not less due to competition.
The ARP number is in the 600s Personally I'm using MCM to make sure I regularly request WUs to get more ARP. |

From the end of the last shutdown the two day que I use on my machines has not been filled on the faster machines, they need to release more WUs.

Mike has posted a new weekly ARP report https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=701115
WCG is working well sending out MCM and ARP. Hopefully they will increase the ARP amount. |
