Errors with Boinc Windows Client

I have been using the Windows Boinc 5.2.7 Client on Windows XPpro for a number of days now. There have been several successful WU completed and two results which were severe errors. So severe that Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer Client requested a report. I did allow this report both times. I also did an update to manually report the bad WU to you folks. Not that I'm overly consumed by points but "My Grid" screen does not show that I have returned any results. Just wondering IF the info is useful to you and IF you are getting any of these results? I'm aware of how Boinc works requiring several validations before awarding points. I also understand this is really pre-alpha and there will be bugs with the Rosetta 4.19 application. I'll be happy to continue crunching these WU's and help to work out the bugs.

Remember911--

Thanks for your feedback. We will look at the report you sent on the bad WUs and see what we find.

Thanks for helping us work out the kinks.

We have been recieving you results. Thank you for returning those. The returned results include the stderr file which has details of processing that occurred. This helps us identify problems so we are very appreciative of you providing that information back to us.

I intend to continue crunching WCG WU's to assist you in being able to effectively offer this project to Windows Boinc Users.

Re: Errors with Boinc Windows Client

As of this morning, 10:15am I am now crunching using the new 5.2.8 Boinc Client. This is now the recommended version, replacing the previous 5.2.7 client.

Re: Errors with Boinc Windows Client

I too am having problems with WCG Rosetta under BOINC windows. I've tried two WUs and both crashed. The output from the latest one is enclosed below.

I am crunching both Seti and CPDN, and since they are both stable I think that I should be able to do WCG also.

The output:

Re: Errors with Boinc Windows Client

By the way, I am running BOINC 5.2.6 on an Athlon 64 X2 3800+ with 1Gb RAM. OS is WinXP. I am running BOINC in both cores. At the time of the crash, WCG was running in one core while the other had CPDN in it.

Were was a popup asking if I wanted to send a report to uSoft, so I guess it was a real crash.

Hope you guys can fix the problems soon.

Re: Errors with Boinc Windows Client

Can you try upgrading to the BOINC Client 5.2.8? There have been some things fixed in that version.

We also have some things we are looking at on our end.

Re: Errors with Boinc Windows Client

The past couple of days since I upgraded to 5.2.8, have been uneventful. Boinc has completed a number of successful reported WU's so whatever you are doing at your end as well as the Boinc update itself is a big improvement.
