Looks like my "grey area" comment wasn't clear enough, judging by the posts from Adri and Mike. :-) :-) "As you know, Bob..."
----------------------------------------I was actually thinking of occasional cases I've seen where the usual logic of what happens (server aborts, Too Late flags and so on) doesn't seem to hold -- they only seem to show up when parts of the system are backlogged, but I've never really managed to work out what causes the apparent missteps. Cheers - Al. P.S. Server Abort is also a non-option if the retry went to a client that doesn't talk to the server before the shortened timeout on the retry -- I've actually seen some wingmen's retries come back with what looks like "Not started by deadline" rather than being Server Aborted... :-) [Edit 1 times, last edit by alanb1951 at Mar 25, 2024 10:00:41 PM] |

No OPNG's at all, and no SCC's either,

I get the impression that the OPN scientists send out a relatively small set of work when they first open up a new target; the same sort of slow start seemed to happen on both the previous occasions... And no, I haven't seen any new OPNG tasks either!
----------------------------------------As for MCM1, I'm keeping topped up (but that's not exactly a large volume of work!) -- however, I suspect some folks with big queues might still be struggling, especially if they are trying to refill in one gulp! :-) Still patiently waiting for ARP1 as well :-) Cheers - Al. P.S. It would appear that all MCM1 results are being assimilated promptly on validation now, and the interval between flagging for purge and the purge happening is down to the 24 hours it ought to be. Here's hoping that sticks! [Edit 1 times, last edit by alanb1951 at Mar 26, 2024 5:17:32 AM] |

Here's hoping that sticks! OPNG has been very sporadic. A few here, every few hours. What we have seen is that our low-core count systems can usually stay fed (or close to being fed) while any of the high-core count systems (or even mid-range core count systems) will not stay more that 50% occupied. We will see what happens throughout the day. |

Still, no OPNG tasks here, and no SCC tasks either, All I get is a few MCM1's from time to time. We'll see if they are able to build more of all types of tasks.
I can wait, I'm in no hurry ![]() |

We now have MCM (not enough) and OPNG (not enough) going out. SCC hasn't given us any news on when they are coming back, so probably not soon. Now that they have solved the MCM results issue (good job tech team !) I would like them to ramp up the sending WUs rate and give us an update on ARP.

Some systems are full, others have none. |

How the WCG tech team could say that there are enough WUs is absolutely Orwellian.
