Grumpy Swede,
I just made another device quota change for MCM1 on one of my profiles and yes, it told me my general preferences have changed. As far as I understand "general preferences" they haven't, but if a server sees all project/application changes as general preferences changes as well, there's not a lot I can do about it :-) -- I guess it's a feature of the way WCG passes the changes from server to server... (For completeness, I just did an equivalent quota change at MilkyWay and that didn't tell me that general preferences have changed...) You are right about it being nice to know, but I'd settle for not having extra stuff in the BOINC log[*1] :-) -- after all, I can tell if my quota changes have taken effect by counting the tasks I receive! Cheers - Al. *1 -- I have a patched 7.24.1 client to avoid issues with log spam if I use named profiles (written up elsewhere...); if I didn't have that, most of my log would be false notifications of change (with no time stamp)... |

Once again, the changed/updated device profile settings isn't propagated to the Boinc client. Old problem that comes back from time to time, and especially after a server crash or outage
I'll report it again to the team, on the contact page. |

The problem with not propagating device profile settings to the BOINC client, is fixed. Thank you WCG team

The issue has resurfaced once again. I needed to update an existing system with an updated Linux distribution which lead to an updated BOINC client. The updated system does not appear in the device listing even though it has been happily crunching away for a week or so.Because it does not appear in the device listing I can not change its profile from the default setting. It does show up very clearly in the results listing. I will give it a day or two more before I shoot off an email to the techs to see if they can do their manual magic.
----------------------------------------Edit: The machine has now shown up in my device listing and I have been able to change its profile. I did not have to send an email to the techs. Cheers

And as usual after a server problem (which we just had), changes to the Device profile settings does not propagate to the BOINC client.

Repeating: And as usual after a server problem (which we just had), changes to the Device profile settings does not propagate to the BOINC client.
I unticked MCM from one of my profiles before the last server issue, in order to easier get MAM Beta. After that, the server issue occured, and when I ticked MCM again, it did not propagate to the BOINC client, even though it now shows as ticket in the profile settings page. Nothing new about that issue, it occurs every time after a server problem. So, now my computer does not ask for MCM tasks, and no Beta tasks are sent either. Sleeping time is here...... Wakey, wakey team, please fix it. |

In my frustration, I decided to move the computer from the work to the default profile (with identical options for both) and it came right instantly!
