can be tricky on Linux getting BOINC running properly Don't understand this part. I installed 3 and not even 1 problem.@BobbyB- Tried couple times installing it from Ubuntu Software? All you get is an icon, that does absolutely nothing when clicked lol Tried the various guides on the BOINC website & others on the webs, None 'Just Worked'. Just used the guide here on WCG you need to log-in for? Worked good so far but still need to see if it keeps running after install... You very lucky cause its been a total nightmare for me since switching to Linux couple years ago lol Every time it has taken hours of web searches & use of that Ancient Caveman Terminal BS to ever get any of mine to work 100% ![]() |

@BobbyB- PSensor is the GUI for Sensors I think you may be using in the command line?
I guess one of the three was amdgpu, for if you have a separate GPU I assume? the other two are, AMD CPU & ACPI? AMD CPU sensor should probably be the main heat sensor for the CPU I should keep an eye on eh? |

Every time it has taken hours of web searches & use of that Ancient Caveman Terminal BS to ..... I hear that I installed X-Ubuntu because of the smaller GUI footprint. I could have gone with the server version but like you said above about the Flintstones.... The only tool I found was sensors. It was there. There are probably umpteen different programs out there. Command 'psensor' not found, but can be installed with:...... I tend to NOT install anything more than I need on Linux. I followed these instructions for the client: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/download/debian Then later when I updated to Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS the client updated itself to 7.18.1. From what I read on the WWW the max temp of the 5500u is 105 °C like my 3600x. It now is about 69 °C. So 69-72 would be OK but I'm guessing. I never (almost) manage WCG from the actual machine itself. I installed Boinc on my Win PC but don't run the client or manager at login. Then just connect to the running machine and manage it. Have 3 linux. and 2 win I use PuTTY to login to Linux and WinSCP to look at its file system. |

ASUS VivoBook TP420UA is not even a gaming laptop so very poor cooling
I set it at "6 cores"/50% so I got 6 WU's running. and any higher than 48% of the CPU's time in my freezing cold room it can spike over 80c am going to aim at keeping it under 80c ![]() pretty pathetic results but thats all I got for now, thx all ![]() |
