If the researchers would just care to run a few after they generate a batch, this problem could be avoided. Some of us, including myself have opted-in to being Beta testers for a long time now. This just hasn't been utilized since the transition from IBM. It would be prudent to start using the group again when it makes sense, as it's helped clear bugs before they affect the volunteer group as a whole in the past. “Where an excess of power prevails, property of no sort is duly respected. No man is safe in his opinions, his person, his faculties, or his possessions.” – James Madison (1792) |

The issue should be fixed now. I accidentally reverted the OPNG workunit-building script to a version that did not check its inputs for this particular glitch, allowing bad work to flow out to you fine people. Fixed now. The bad workunits have been scrubbed from our servers, and corrected replacements built in their stead.
Sorry for the trouble, everyone. Christian |

I think historically, the beta-testing program was used for new projects and for application-code changes in existing projects, but you're quite right -- whenever possible, we should also beta-test changes to upstream processes that could possibly affect workunits. Good suggestion -- thanks. Christian |
