Re: No CPU work units avalable?

As of 5/20/2023 I get intermittent MCM WUs; sometimes only 2 or 3 per attempt to get new WUs. I've set my dowload limit to 15, but it takes several update cycles just to get 10-11, and sometimes there's nothing at all. A few SCCs over the last few days including the computation error ones. ARP was sporadic over last few days, maybe one or two WUs total (for comparison with MCM issues).
I run what I can when I can. But this is just an awful state of affairs for all concerned.

Since they fixed the problem with the "C" type units for SCC, (by not sending them) I have been getting full queues for the first time in a long time. I think this has taken some pressure off of the demand for MCM units, as I have all I need for that project also. Hopefully the supply of both will continue in a stable manner.
Cheers

Re: No CPU work units avalable?

I'm getting a trickle of SCC WUs. I'm not getting any ARP WUs (my favorite). Though I can see that ARPs are being returned, so maybe others just have them in their queues.

My friends ask if they should join WCG now, and my answer is still, not yet.

Re: No CPU work units avalable?

I think we run out of MCM work too now. So, now it is desert climate all over WCG.

45 Minutes ago, I received one (!) single MCM. Nothing else.

Re: No CPU work units avalable?

Affirmative. No work units since about 8:30 a.m US Central Time. I keep seeing "tasks are committed to other platforms (meaning there's no MCM WUs available; everything else says "no tasks for (SCC/ARP/OPN1/OPNG/TB) available". It's now 3:16 p.m. US Central Time and still nothing.

Maybe the hoarders emptied the que pre-July 25 shutdown.....another few hours and I'll move over to Folding@Home for a few days.

Re: No CPU work units avalable?

There appears to be some new work again -- I've received work for batches with numbers starting with 020206 or 020207, and the workunits appear to have been created on the 20th

Regarding "tasks are committed to other platforms " -- I think it may indicate that the feeder for a given project is stocked up on retries that aren't for the caller's system type. Judging by the pattern of retries I'm seeing there are quite a lot of MCM1 tasks that need retries because earlier tasks aren't returning within deadline for one reason or another; I suspect there may be enough such that there'll be a "retries for Windows" block then a "retries for Linux" block (and so on), and the interval between blocks may be being regulated.

(That message isn't unique to MCM1`, by the way...)

Cheers - Al.

P.S. now there is work available again there are going to be systems out there that have lost the big data file when they run out of MCM1 work, and some of them will almost certainly experience download issues trying to get the file anew...

[Edited to account for new work...]

Re: No CPU work units avalable?

There might be a few trickling out, but they haven't reached this far yet. I suspect the queues will be empty by morning if nothing changes.
Cheers

Re: No CPU work units avalable?

Still no new tasks available. I'm getting a few MCM1 resends though, from time to time.

Re: No CPU work units avalable?

Looks like they are back on line and running. It makes me sad when they are down for DAYS on end and there is not communication at all. I wish they would at least email us with news and an ETA
