@PHK_UK & Yavanius
----------------------------------------Thanks for the tips. For DENIS you need to set preferences to "Run test applications?" and "Beta of DENIS-myocyte:" to get the currently available testing units. After following the suggestions I have been getting plenty of DENIS WUs.Likewise Rosetta now I have installed Vitualbox. Silly of me to assume using default preference settings would be enough! i'm not getting vbox. I tried getting it and then it wanted stuff and installation and backups and partitions and i don't know what it wanted but it never got working. so i have to pass on Rosetta.
i got SIdock and DENIS and TN-Grid going and GPUGRID too. |

VBox can be a hog and you can't see the memory usage though Windows Task Manager. You need a minimum of 8gb of RAM.
If a part of VBox crashes it'll wipe up out the work you did and error out the task. The one thing I saw before was that there was different versions of Vbox required from different projects and sometimes getting a newer version would break another project's apps. I haven't run VBox in a whiles, so I don't what the state of things are across projects... |

Other projects with medical related work: DENIS Rosetta SiDock Paul. Thanks Paul I had not heard of DENIS before and decided to look at it. As it so happens, my wife has just been in ICU with Tachycardia Induced Dilated Cardiomyopathy and Atrial Fibrillation. The cardiologist has referred us to another cardiologist who specialises in electrophysiology to try and sort out the arrhythmia. This is exactly the field of research involved at DENIS. I expect it may become my project of choice. I have been running Rosetta and Einstein since WCG went pear-shaped.

Einstein did something weird for me where it'd run but Boinc wouldn't count it for some reason?
----------------------------------------i also don't care for brute-forcing that field. it's not life-critical for another 2 centuries. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Robokapp at Aug 10, 2022 10:33:56 PM] |

I'm also looking forward to not have my servers sitting at 0% CPU most of the time. You could run another Boinc Project like tn grid with 0% ressource share. That means you will only get wus from tn grid if there are no wus from wcg. Its a easy way to set up a backup project. Just out of curiousity, does TN-Grid push out workunits for Android as well as for Win? |

I really wish I'd known about it months back, as I would have happily crunched for them while WCG was down. I looked for a BOINC project that didn't require virtualbox for Win and also pushed out workunits for Android. Loading a beta app for that platform is no big deal to me, but running virtualbox is.
----------------------------------------The science that they do also falls into the category that I feel is worthy of my unused CPU cycles, too. The thing is WCG seems to be finally getting where it should be and I have plenty of workunits on both devices to keep them busy. If the situation does change in the future, though, I think I finally found somewhere to go. :) I do appreciate the suggestions and responses about TN-Grid.
