What i am hoping for is that they will increase the work units for OPNG or World Community Grid can come up with a new project that uses GPU sometime in the near future.

It takes a while until the hardware is expanded. Folding@home is supported by AWS.

Hmm, why do we still have a 3-day deadline on the new non stress test WU's? See this post by uplinger, where is stated: "We are going to be making some changes to the work units that are being sent out. (…) The changes we are making is setting the deadlines to 3 days instead of 7 days that have been previously sent out. All new work downloaded will have the 3 day deadline. (…) This allows us to start seeing where a steady state with a 3 day deadline is at, (…)" Note the last two sentences: "All new work downloaded will have the 3 day deadline" and "This allows us to start seeing where a steady state with a 3 day deadline is at". So it may be lasting until a new decision is made. [Edit 1 times, last edit by adriverhoef at May 8, 2021 12:21:27 PM] |

But maybe you're right, and it was something that was going to apply also after the stress test. |

I turned on my main cruncher to see what, if anything, I could get. The result is mostly nothing for the GTX980, but the iGPU HD4600, is getting lots of resends with short deadlines, from failing iGPU's. Mostly WU's from the stress test, but also from the "normal" production. It seems to be plenty of them out there too, and they keep coming in.

... It seems to be plenty of them out there too, and they keep coming in. I can confirm. My PC with at GTX980ti inside, the one with a GTX970 and another one with a GTX1650 keep getting tasks several times per hour. Most unfortunately though, the main cruncher with 2 RTX3070 inside gets tasks only once in a while. And if so, just a few ones at at time, while the other machines receive up to 20 or 30 at at time. Is there any explanation for this strange imbalance ? |
