Re: Work unit availability

Yup, information died with the end of the stress test.
And so did all GPU tasks it seems. It was hard to get GPU tasks before the stress test, but now it's totally impossible. I have tried since the stress test ended, but with no luck at all.

So, my second GPU cruncher goes offline now too.

Re: Work unit availability

I'm finding that if I just let it randomly grab GPU work units when they're available, I'm generally getting enough to more than double my daily points. So, really, I can't complain, especially since that system is my primary cruncher. Sure, the numbers were downright insane during the stress test (especially for anyone who ran multiple tasks), but it's going to be a challenge to keep the pipe full for any length of time.

Sometimes I might poke the server and rarely dislodge a few OPNGs, but BOINC is doing a good job on its own most of the time.

Re: Work unit availability

Not much luck for the kitties today. They haven't snagged an OPNG into their kibble bowl for nigh on 7 hours now. But they'll keep trying.

Re: Work unit availability

Hmm, why do we still have a 3-day deadline on the new non stress test WU's?

Just one example: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/...s.do?workunitId=660785640

Re: Work unit availability

What i am hoping for is that they will increase the work units for OPNG or World Community Grid can come up with a new project that uses GPU sometime in the near future.

It takes a while until the hardware is expanded. Folding@home is supported by AWS.

On what hardware does WCG run? Since WCG is supported by IBM and they have a cloud solution as well.

Re: Work unit availability

Hmm, why do we still have a 3-day deadline on the new non stress test WU's?

See this post by uplinger, where is stated: "We are going to be making some changes to the work units that are being sent out. (…) The changes we are making is setting the deadlines to 3 days instead of 7 days that have been previously sent out. All new work downloaded will have the 3 day deadline. (…) This allows us to start seeing where a steady state with a 3 day deadline is at, (…)"

Note the last two sentences: "All new work downloaded will have the 3 day deadline" and "This allows us to start seeing where a steady state with a 3 day deadline is at". So it may be lasting until a new decision is made.

Thanks!
I interpreted that post of his, that it only was during the rest of the stress test. But maybe you're right, and it was something that was going to apply also after the stress test.
