Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - March 26 2021 [ Issues Thread ]

Just tried it out of curiosity on my primegrid run...
You're right, doesn't work.

After my slightly tart comment last time (sorry about that blushing ), I thought I'd better check.

The suggestion seems to come from https://forum.efmer.com/index.php?topic=1326.0, and is written by Fred, the author of BoincTasks: in general, that's not a bad source to trust. But I'm afraid, in this case, he's wrong.

The BOINC code does internally use variable names like gpu_gpu_usage, and in one place - https://github.com/BOINC/boinc/blob/master/lib/cc_config.cpp#L865 - it uses them when writing a file. But I can't find anywhere in the code where it can read that file back in. I'll look into it in more depth in the morning, and report it upstream if it turns out to be a bug.

In the meantime, use the format in the User Manual - I did that myself, and it worked for me.

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - March 26 2021 [ Issues Thread ]

Long time cruncher, first time beta tester. Today I received four tasks for my NVIDIA GT 730, but all ended quickly with computation errors. I looked around, trying to find out what data I should send. If there's a post or if someone can suggest something additional, please let me know. I'll be happy to help if I can. From the event log:

@motech.
If your card does not support OpenCl 1.2 or your driver is out of date and doesn't support it your tasks will error quickly.

No offense taken.
I'm always glad to be corrected so i don't end up spewing further misinformation. wink

Edit: And i'm not the original author with the problem. My GPU multitasks run fine

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - March 26 2021 [ Issues Thread ]

Note typo gpu_usaage, corrected below.
I used BoincTasks to update as I can update all PCs from 1 and target PCs are un-responsive while running GPU tasks.
Possibly the syntax it uses is valid in later Boinc versions.
Getting late now, will try again in the morning.

<app>
<name>beta29</name>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>.5</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>.5</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - March 26 2021 [ Issues Thread ]

I've processed 75 GPU BETA tasks so far, with about 2 seconds CPU time and about 2.5 minutes on GPU each. All VALID.
Interesting to see that there are no points scored for those tasks.

Cheers,
Frits.
