some CPU like Ryzen 3900x are severely slowed down. ARP1 requires a lot of memory. The problem with Ryzen 3900X is that the third level cache is split in two parts of each 32 MB. If a WU is switched between cores, the cached data might be at the wrong cache part and it causes (large) memory transfer. It is the significant improvement with Ryzen 5900 since the third level cache is 64 MB large as one single piece. The current issue is that Ryzen 5900 is only available in theory but not in practice, at least not in Europe. I'm waiting for it since November 2020. Cheers, Yves |
